The Range: Chico’s for Summer

May 6, 2025

Walking by the local Chico’s, I always wonder why they don’t put their best pieces in the window. When I walk by the store, I think about ladies who drink white wine spritzers at Mahjong with the girls in Boca or live in an artist’s commune in Santa Fe. But if you search the site, you’ll actually find great pieces for women of any age. Don’t believe me? Let’s have a look.

How cute is the floral embroidery on this striped dress?  For Mother’s Day brunch, for weekend events in the summer, for a breezy work throw on, this dress looks like it came from Tuckernuck for half the price.  Sizes run up to 22.  I take a 0, the equivalent of a 6.  I would swap out the belt for this one or this one though, because you know how I hate a flaccid fabric belt.

This is a No-Iron Linen Shirt.  I will say it louder for the people in the back — NO IRON.  Relaxed and breezy, Chico’s sent me one of these to try (because I like to their belts and jewelry a lot) and I was sold.  So sold that I bought the indigo color — a lighter wash — myself.  At $59, you can wear this with cropped white denim, you can wear it over a swimsuit at the beach, or you can tuck it into a trouser for a summer vibe.  The shirt is $59 and comes 11 colors.  I think the shades of blue look the most elegant.

The cut on this Sleeveless Midi Tank Dress is great.  My middle is softer than it was in my 30s and most tank dresses fit so close to the body that, even if I size up, I look like I hit the all-you-can-eat buffet for Taco Tuesday.  This dress, however, as a an elliptical hem and a princess seam so it falls away from the body and into a slightly fuller skirt.  It also has POCKETS.

Do I need to say anything more?  No?  Great.  Oh, it also comes in black.

So Chico’s wanted to partner with me for a post because I have sold a lot of their jewelry in the past, and I would be remised if I didn’t share some of the best picks here.

I love Chico’s jewelry for a few reasons: 1) it’s always unique, 2) it comes in great colors, not just silver and gold, and 3) the price is 60% what department store would charge for the same pieces (not to mention the frequent sales).

These blue-on-blue earrings are perfect for summer weddings.  For something more vibrant, these bright yellow floral earrings are so fun.  And these hoops with Amazonite beads would look great with neutrals.

Love a bracelet?  This coral hinge look is great for summer.  This pearl and gold bracelet looks cool and easy to wear.  And do not miss out on this playful cuff with rainbow-colored details.  You can also adjust it with a squeeze to get a better fit.

{Chico’s approached me about doing a post and sent me a gift for participating because I had posted about them in the past.  They also paid me a small stipend of a few hundred dollars for the space.  I only agreed because they let me pick all the items included with no caveats and didn’t require pre-approval.}

I used to dramatically steer my mother away from Chico’s whenever we walked by one in the mall, so it almost hurts my soul to admit that I really like, borderline love, pretty much all of these items. Am I becoming my mother???

    • Belle says:

I think we just didn’t respect that our moms were in different seasons of their lives or what that meant. I used to be like, “God, who wears a trouser with an elastic!” A woman who has a baby and sits all day, Abra. Good God.

      • LaurenE says:

I apologized to my mom for making fun of her high waisted pants and underwear when I was young in the 90s. They are comfortable and she was right. LOL

And yes, I become my mother more rapidly every day..

I actually gasped at that dress, it’s gorgeous. How are the sleeves on the non-iron shirt on you? Do you just roll them up? The cuffs are a little different.

  3. Amanda says:

Our college town does not have a ton of retail, but we do have a Chico’s. I’m officially persuaded to go give it a try.

My friends gasped when I told them I had picked up the green striped shirt you recommended a while back at Chico’s. You are so right though– dig deep and you can find some awesome stuff. Thanks for turning us on to this, Abra!

I actually bought a beautiful sweater jacket set recently — such a great price and wonderful quality. I am really picky and I was impressed. One of my favorite pieces of work attire.

  6. Sierra Delta says:

I don’t do sleeveless anymore. Is there a breezy top that could go over (or under) the red dress to keep the warm weather vibes going?

  7. Kim says:

I really appreciate the information you give us when you do partnered posts. You’ve always been one of few fashion people I trust, and including that information reiterates why!
