Opinion Page: Product Reviews and Follow-ups, Vol. XVIV

Aug 6, 2024

It’s important to me that after I recommend a product, I close the loop and let you know whether I still love it three or six months later. Did it last or did it fall apart in the washer? Am I still wearing it? Is it still in first position on my bathroom counter? Because longevity is better than an instant gratification.

Vuori Leggings // I bought these back in 2020.  After Sloane was born in 2022, I bought a second pair in my postpartum size.  Then, earlier this year, I got paint on them.  Why was I painting in my good leggings?  A question I ask myself every.single.day.

Until today, when I bought a replacement pair.  These are the best leggings I have ever owned.  They come in short, regular and long lengths.  They also *finally* made them with pockets.  You can also snag them at Nordstrom.  I find they run true to size.  Also, the pair from 2020 was gifted to a friend, and she is still wearing them — in case you thought $98 was too much to pay for leggings.

Felina Finesse Briefs // I posted these this spring.  I love these lacy boyshort-style underwear for anytime I want to be covered but feel pretty.  I recently bought a couple of stand alone pairs in other colors.  As a size 8, I am in the Small-Medium, because they are very stretchy.

I just love these and they have been the perfect postpartum thing, since I am just not ready to go back to thong underwear yet.

New Balance 327s // Looking for a cool “Mom” sneaker?  These are the ones.  I wear mine all the time.  Even when it’s 99-degrees outside.  I have a problem.  I love them.

They’re light.  They’re comfortable.  I own the black.  For “back to school” (who says you have to be going to school to get something new?), I ordered the taupe, so I would have something lighter.

BR Factory Cargo Pants // I admit it: I had to replace these because I wore these pants out.  Like, wore out the cuffs because I wore and washed them 2x a week for a little less than eight months.  Sorry, not sorry.  Luckily, they were <$50, so I got another pair of olive pants and a pair of the black.  They also come in petite.

If you work from home, if you want a pair of pants for weekend that aren’t leggings, if you travel a lot, these are a great option for your life.  Anytime I was feeling like jeans would be uncomfortable but leggings/joggers would be too casual, this is where I landed.  They are the best.

K18 Detox Shampoo // I have sporadically mentioned my love of this shampoo over the past year, but let’s go once more.  This shampoo is a must for women who don’t shampoo every day, who have oily hair, or who work out outside.  When my hair feels like a giant, product-filled grease mop, this is my solution.  It’s not drying.  Don’t use it every day, but do work it into your routine once or twice per week.

Finish with the K18 leave-in treatment (but make sure to put it on hair that you have mostly dried for best results).  You can also snag both products in mini-size through this kit.

Have you purchased anything I’ve recommended that you’ve loved?  Or even that didn’t work for you?  Share your own reviews in the comments.

How do you style the cargo pants?

  2. Sarah says:

Do you size up a half size in the 327s? I’m very interested in the dark green.

  3. K says:

Oh, I love this! The Vuori Performance Joggers are pure goldilocks, not too heavy, not too light. I have black and camo and a hoodie to match the black pair. I want to try Sweaty Betty’s joggers, but I know Vuori’s are a dream and they are the same price point, so why mess with what you know? I love the NB sneakers you noted, but worry it’s too high of a profile so am eyeing some Gola’s….

I have bought two pairs of the BR cargo joggers. I wore a hole in the first pair. I agree that these are the perfect pants for wearing around the house, but then feeling OK if you have to go ououtr and run errands, etc. Thanks for the recommendation.

  5. Courtney says:

How wrinkly are the BR pants? Looking for low maintenance options. Thanks!

    • Belle says:

not very. I notice some wrinkles in the inner thigh if I sit on a plane, not moving, not really at home though.

I recently bought the b.tempt’d Women’s b.wow’d Convertible Wire Free Bra, Au Natural and also LOVE it! It is comfortable, gives support and the color is good for under light tees! THANKS for that one!
Also got the Lucent C & Skin Barrier SPF from Prequel back in Feb and they are still working great for under $50!
And YEARS ago you recommended a black flat from Nine West with cut-out hearts and a pointed toe. Those shoes finally gave out after years of service. SO thankful for your honest advice!

  7. I love those BR Factory cargo pants. I have them in black and they’re my go-to plane pants. I wear mine with a black t-shirt because I’m always too hot on planes.

  8. Linda says:

Those BR factory cargo pants are the best. Just grabbed a couple more colors on deep discount.

Based on Abra’s recommendation, I purchased the Prequel Vitamin C serum and it’s great, especially for the price point. I used Drunk Elephant before they reformulated it, then moved on to Beauty Counter before it became unavailable, and now I’ll stick with the Prequel. (Bummed I didn’t order the Gleanser, but I’ll try it at some point.)

  10. Colleen says:

How are the 327s for walking? I’m headed to Disney World in October and need good shoes. I like the way these look but need shoes that will hold up to 20-25k step days.
