The Mondays: July 8, 2024

This weekend was a whirlwind. I spent most of it riding in a car keeping my 23-month-old Passenger Princess equipped with sticker books and snacks. But I did see a few things worth sharing. Here are the goods.

Have you watched The Bear?  I haven’t started the new season, but after three years working in a restaurant kitchen as an expediter, it brings back some fond-ish memories.  Last season, one of the main characters makes a potato chip omelette, and when I spotted this recipe on Buzzfeed, I knew what I was making for brunch this weekend.  With Boursin cheese and sour cream and chive chips, how good does that sound?

Straw bags are all the rage this summer.  I tried three before I found the perfect one for me (more on that later), but I thought this dramatic, oversized straw clutch was a marvel.  It’s such a statement piece for raising the style points of a simple summer outfit.

As I mentioned above, I order three raffia shoppers this summer.  All of them were nice, but the prices made me cringe a bit.  $298 for a bag that I will only carry in summer, and only   Then, I spotted French market totes on Etsy and was sold.  I ordered this <$90 one with both a handle and a long strap.  It also has a zip pocket to keep your belongings protected.  The quality is good, and I can use it to death without worrying about keeping it in good condition.  I also considered this fun backpack option.

My Mom was a red cord bracelet from time to time, so when I spotted this bracelet stack on Pinterest I had to share it.  I love the way it adds color and texture to the stack.  For some people, these red bracelets have religious or spiritual significance, but that doesn’t have to be the case.    For more color options, try this $6 Etsy option.
