Mar 25, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for the 100th time, I managed to do a little window shopping.

Here’s what caught my eye.

If you have a wedding or other special occasion event this summer, this beaded, oversize-chain bag from Anthropologie is a really fun option.  I love that it blends the vintage look of a beaded bag with a large, modern chain and classic flap style.  It would also be a great piece to dress up a simple top and jeans for date night (just don’t forget a great earring and bold lip color).  The bag also comes in black and a selection of other colors (I love the kelly green).

I am really into the look of brown nail polish for summer.  It’s neutral.  It’s chic.  You can tailor the shade to one you love.  This Cliffside Karaoke shade from OPI is awesome in a dark chocolate.  This Espresso shade from OPI is more of a mocha and Over the Taupe gives you more of a greige look.

For spring, I really want an all-white, low-profile sneaker.  Basically, I want the look of Keds in a more stylish package.  A reader got me thinking about them with a question last month, and I simply can’t rest until I find a pair.  These all-white Adidas Gazelles are the best of what I have found.  I love the clean look.  If you’re concerned about keeping them clean, try these light beige Sambas.

Need a hat for summer?  A friend recommended this Lack of Color Cove hat.  The tilted style is great for keeping UV rays off of your face.  I also love their Paloma hat with a fun ribbon-tie.  Need something packable?  I prefer this Hat Attack Roll-Up Visor.  It’s perfect for travel, or just keeping in your purse for your commute or an unexpected trip outside.

My hands are so dry.  Ever since winter started, I have been unable to keep my hands moisturized.  Sarah at My Sister Made Me Buy It has me sold on this Fenty Hydra Hand Mask.  I grabbed the mini-size at Sephora on Saturday, and I’ve been using it each night before bed.  I can already tell a difference.  This is my first Fenty product, and I love it.

So what are you window shopping for right now?  Share in the comments.

This is the spring of “I NEED WHITE SNEAKS!” apparently. I’ve tried several, including the Gazelle’s. Unfortunately, the unisex size doesn’t work for me. I finally settled on off white/cream Adidas Stan Smith. I’m in love with them.

This is my Adidas rec — the thicker sole of the Samba you linked. I need to spray the suede again but I am hoping they stay clean for the season a little easier than an all-white shoe. I accidentally grass stained my last pair of all-white Cole Haan court shoes.

I love the white sneakers too! My only concern is I’ve found leather tends to crack – maybe there is a way to prevent this. But to clean just use a magic eraser! It works wonders.

I think I may have been the reader question. Still on my quest. I have purchased and returned more than a dozen pairs and am still looking a sneaker that is cut lower to be more flattering. You nailed the description of a cooler Keds. Thank you!

I love my white sneakers from Cariuma. The ones I have are the machine washable ones, and they’ve held up fairly well. I have needed to take a bleach pen to them once or twice, though.

Tretorns have been my comfiest and most versatile white shoe go to for the past couple years.

I work in healthcare and wash my hands a million times a day. My go to for moisturizing is a tub of Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream Ultimate. It’s outstanding! I’ve even started using it on my face.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
