This weekend, I needed a rest. Our holiday was fun, but far from relaxing.  Luckily, my husband wanted a night out with friends, so I got to spend several hours in bed, with snacks, television, and my pups.  It was great.  And here’s some of what I found while I was mindlessly scrolling the Internet.

Winter with No Snow // The New York Times tackles how to dress for a winter with no snow (just in time for NYC’s first snow in two years to arrive).  2011 Abra is so happy that capes are back in vogue.  Edna Mode be damned, a cape is a really fun piece to have in your wardrobe.  I owned one for a few years and it was fantastic for sprucing up a going out outfit.  This camel Calvin Klein is the ticket.

Capes are also a great option for traveling.  This Bombo cape in navy with a red stripe would be perfect for wearing on the plane.  I also love this oatmeal colored cape with a yellow accent, and it’s under-$100.

Well Suited // Even though I mostly work from home, I occasionally need a suit.  So I appreciate when Ann Taylor freshens up their offerings.  From basic black to an incredible pine green and vibrant blue, AT has several options to choose from.  For winter-to-spring, I love this belted blazer in black or olive green.

Sheets // We need to replace some of our bedding.  For our bed, I’m looking at these Quince sheet sets.  They claim to give that luxury feel for less.  For the guest bed, I always buy sheets at Nordstrom Rack.  Particularly this time of year, they have a lot to choose from.  I love this embroidered duvet set.  We need a new throw blanket for Sloane’s room, and this Ugg blanket looks like just the thing.

Baggged // I’ve been looking for a chic bucket bag for a while.  This Celine Sangle bag is lovely, but more than I am comfortable spending.  I considered the Madewell bag that’s been making the rounds, but its been a long time since I’ve bought a new purse, so I thought I might splurge a bit.  This Strathberry Lana bag is perfect.  The shape is fabulous and the hardware details give it a little something extra.

I bought that Madewell bucket bag as a Christmas present to myself, and it is beautiful – the shape is minimal and modern, it’s light, the straps are a perfect length to carry shoulder or crossbody. I’ve received a raft of compliments.

I do wish it had a zip top for extra security, but there is one small interior zip pocket and the magnetic closure works well…the depth of the bag keeps things feeling secure as long as I don’t overload it. If anyone is considering a more budget-friendly option I second the recommendation for this one!

Hi Abra – what eyecream are you currently using? I wondered if the last one you reviewed for undereye circles was still working. About to hit 40 and I’ve never used eye cream but all of a sudden I REALLY need something. Thanks

I am in the market for new bedding, and I clicked on one link in FB and am now bombarded by more companies than I ever knew existed! If you buy the Quince sheets I hope you’ll give a mini-review.
