Gift Guide 2023: Stocking Stuffers, Pt. 1

Nov 29, 2023

I love stocking stuffers.  They are the best part of Christmas.  There’s just nothing quite like an affordable gift that’s funny or useful or chic (or maybe all three).  So here is Part One of my stocking stuffer gift guides, where nothing costs more than $30.

Have a bookworm in your family?  These heart-shaped bookmarks fit over the page corners and keep your place without the risk of losing the marker.  These magnetic bookmarks in a selection of pastels are also great.  Also, if your Nana complains that there aren’t enough large print books at the library, grab her this whole page magnifier so she can read what she wants.

Need a gift for someone you don’t know that well?  I love a vintage hotel ashtray.  This one from the Hotel de Crillon is a nice option (especially if the person’s name starts with ‘c’).  I also like this Tower Hotel ashtray from London. But my favorite is this mid-century Holiday Inn option.

No one tell Kyle I bought him this Caddyshack inspired driver cover for Christmas.  Amazon always has a lot of clever options.  I also like this Happy Gilmore cover for the 90s kid in your life.

I will keep posting this Dior Creme Apricot cuticle cream until everyone owns it.  It is so good for your hands, especially in the winter.  Plus, you can get it packaged in the Dior gift box and it looks really chic.  Another great, affordable nail care gift?  Glass nail file.  You’ll never use an Emery board again.

Okay, I admit, at first glance this might strike you as a gift no one needs, but the 45-second omelette maker actually surprised me.  I bought this thing for a friend’s daughter who was headed off to college, and she used it so much that she bought another one.  So I thought, hmmm, maybe my toddler would like to eat omelettes in the morning and I don’t have to dirty a pan?  For a busy parent, this could be a game changer.  Also, seniors, someone on a high protein diet, or any person who doesn’t love cooking for one.

Don’t tell me socks don’t make a good gift.  These Celesport socks are so good they make an AWESOME gift.  I love mine.  Can’t say enough good things about these soft, thick, durable, comfortable socks.  Oh, and if you need a no-show sock, these are best ones.

If you’re sick of buying makeup removing wipes, pick up a set of these Makeup Eraser wipes.  There’s one for every day, and they’ll remove everything, including waterproof mascara without chemicals.  They’re a great gift for a teen, a makeup maven, or anyone who believes in sustainability.

We have the omelet maker dish and I LOVE it. It’s a breeze to make eggs and they turn out really, really well. I’ve bought one for several working friends with kiddos and all of them find it useful.

  2. Ashley says:

Question about the omelet maker… do the eggs have that weird microwave texture? Might be a good gift for the husband, but he’s egg picky.

    • Belle says:

I don’t find the texture change to be nearly as bad as a plastic egg cooker I tried, but there is a slight texture difference. I saw a tip that if you take them out slightly undercooked that it improves the fluffiness, and I find that to be true.

  3. Mitra says:

You sold me last year on the Dior cuticle cream when the offered it in the red jar.

  4. Jen B says:

It’s similarly silly but a laser etched (not stamped) cheese grater makes a shocking difference in the ease and speed with which you can grate (anything).

Any suggestions for laptop or phone cleaners? I feel like that would make a great stocking stuffer and I need one myself!

  6. Nadya says:

I bought those socks on your recommendation a month or so ago and just ordered another set. You’re right they’re great!

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
