Work from Home Pants from Athleta

Jul 20, 2023

My mother is to blame for this.  Whatever anyone tells you about Terri — kind, generous, doting grandmother — she is also a pusher of athleisure wear.  Athleta pants and tops in particular.  And finally, after two years, she convinced me to buy a pair of wide leg, cropped pants “just to try.”

Today, I went to the mall to buy my third pair of Athleta pants.

The woman is a dealer.  They should put her on a corner in front of the shop and giver her a commission.

My Mom convinced me to buy these Avenue Wide Leg Pants knowing that with my shorter-than-average inseam length they would not be cropped.  They come in regular length (25″), petite (23″) and tall (28″).  So if I wanted a full-length pant the tall would get me there.  But the regular are a good ankle length.

As for fit, I am a size 6-8 on the Athleta size chart.  I sized down to the six, and they fit like a dream.  Sizes run 0-26.

Also, these pants are so comfortable.  I like wearing them more than I like wearing leggings.  They’re like sweats, but better.  I toss them on with a cute striped tee for lunch.  I wear them with a racerback tank for a morning walk.  I could put them on with a real blouse (or a chunky sweater) and black flats get away with them on Fridays at the office.

Other pants from Athleta that I have purchased?  I didn’t think this Brooklyn pant would work on me because it’s tapered.  But I bought the olive, and they work with the right length top.  (It has to cut across just above the widest part of me or else I like a little kite-shaped.)  Finally, I bought these Cosmic Wide Leg pants because my new home office will be in the basement, and it’s really cold down there.  With a flat waist, I have a feeling these will be my go-to work pants.

So if you’re working from home and looking for non-leggings that are comfortable and a little dressier, Athleta has you covered.

Thanks to you and your mom I have been wearing the Brooklyn pants on repeat to my more casual office! The wider leg looks intriguing

I am also a big fun of Athleta pants, and I have several different styles. But I also want to sing the praises of the Old Navy Powersoft wide-leg pants. They are seamed pants with pockets…so comfy like leggings, but they actually look very put together! I have them in navy, and I wear them much like you mentioned your pants above!

+1. For my business casual higher-ed workplace, Athleta Brooklyn pants and Aday’s Something Borrowed shirt are a super versatile pairing/uniform.

How can I not love a post that starts with “my mother is to blame for this”?????????????
