Do you need to freshen up your shoe selection for summer? A new pair of kicks can lift a tried-and-true outfit or pull together a new look. Here are six pairs to get you started.
Espadrille Wedges // Born in Spain, the Espadrille might be the only summer shoe you need. At least, Vogue seems to think so. You can wear them under a gown for a formal wedding or with a flirty sundress for brunch. They also lift a simple pair of shorts.
This lace-up pair from Castaner give you the classic ribbon style. If you prefer a buckle strap, Castaner also has you covered. Both pairs come in a selection of colors. Prefer a flat? These Amazon flats give you the classic look in a flat with a zipper back to hold them on.
Bright Drivers // I showed these Rothy’s last week in a chic, subtle aqua, but they’re also phenomenal in this Dragon Fruit color. This hint of brightness looks great with denim, chinos or simple shorts. I wear mine with t-shirt dresses and sundresses to walk through a farmer’s market in comfort. Prefer leather? This pair is the perfect fit; I love the grosgrain ribbon detail.
Strappy Sandals // If I could only choose one pair of shoes for summer, it would be a pair of strappy, flat sandals. This pair from Kaanas has an unexpected look that’s modern and stylish. This pair from Tkees has a very simple, easy to wear look. I also love this toe-ring pair from Reformation.
Simple Slingbacks // These Stuart Weitzman Mary Jane slingbacks are the stuff of dreams. I adore them. The pointed toe would look perfect with a pair of trousers. The sleek, strappy design would look incredible with a sheath dress. They’re amazing.
Sadly, this Mary Jane style isn’t available in a lower price point, but plenty of stylish slingbacks are. I adore these low-heel slingback from Cole Haan (I bet they’re comfortable too). Ann Taylor also has a great pointed toe pair.
White Sneakers // A stylish white sneaker is now a summer staple. This pair from Gola is sleek and sporty. These Nike Court Sneakers are a pure classic. Kate Spade makes a low sneaker with a bit of a gold accent. Prefer something sportier, not leather? Hear me out, New Balances. Need a wide option? These Naturalizers come in a wider width.
Metallic Sandals // If your summer is full of fun events–weddings, parties, etc.–then you need a versatile shoe for special occasions. I’ve featured this Christen block sandal with a knot front before because its classic with modern touches. These bow-front sandals are a dupe for the popular Loeffler Randal sandal. Need something simpler? I own these block heel Sam Edelman’s and I’ve worn them for years.
