The Range: New Arrivals from Boden

May 23, 2023

Boden is one of the rare retailers where the pieces delivered to my house always live up to expectations.  I’m always excited to wear my  pieces (even the ones I bought second hand), and I always get compliments when I wear them.  With that said, here are some of my best picks from their current line.

Broderie Tea Dress

Long Sleeve Embroidery Top

Hampshire Flared Trouser

Collarless Midi Shirt Dress

Fitted Textured Shirt (also in a crewneck style)

Tailored Suit Blazer

Tie Waist Top

  1. Erin says:

My biggest issue with Boden clothes is that the necklines address typically very high or very low. I’m busty but dress pretty conservatively (especially at work). The high necklines are just not flattering or comfortable, but the more open necklines are way too low. It’s very rare to find a good scoop neck there!

    • Jamie says:

I agree! I thought it was just me. I’ve had to return several dresses that would have been perfect except for how low cut they are. And I’m pretty small chested.

  2. Lindsey says:

Do you have feedback on that awesome Boden dress you featured and purchased a few months back? I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but usually what works for you works for me too – I would love to hear your feedback!

(This was the post I’m asking about: https://caphillstyle.com/capitol/2023/03/22/the-find-the-t-shirt-dress-you-need.html)

    • Belle says:

So, two things: 1) wash it on the delicate setting; I used regular wash and it was tough on the hems and 2) I’ve been happy with it, and worn it to several casual lunches.

  3. Rachel C says:

The quality of Boden is also better than most retailers, especially when you consider the price and availability of sales. I have multiple dresses that are pre-Covid and still look brand new.

  4. Debbie says:

I wish Boden and others would offer petite-friendly garments. I can’t afford to spend this much money on something, just to pay for alterations.

    • Whitney says:

Oh, get excited—they do! Not every item is offered in a petite version, but many are. For instance, every item above has a petite version except for the shirts.

    • Sara says:

They do have petite! I’m 4’11/5’0 and their petite sizes are great. One of my go-to retailers for work dresses.

    • Linda says:

Oh yes, they have a great petite range ! At least here in the UK, they also have sales frequently so I have a few petite dresses that are good quality and have lasted a while (most UK brands don’t really do petites or don’t do them well, boden stands out in that category) . Re sizing comments, remember 3they use UK sizing so it’s worth looking at the conversion chart.

  5. Pam says:

Agree Boden is almost always a win! You had a post a few weeks ago about what to wear on a long haul flight and mentioned you and your mom wore maxi dresses with a cardi. Although the dress you linked was not available in my size (and I can’t wear that color), your inspiration landed me on Boden’s site where i bought an AMAZING knit maxi dress (my first) that I wore on a transatlantic flight last week. In fact it was so comfortable running around in my “secret nightgown” that I wore it for 3 days straight and again today to travel by train with SE lugsole chelesea boots in Ireland. https://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/ribbed-knitted-maxi-dress-navy/sty-d0481-nav. I got it in Navy and am thinking of getting the black, super quality, very flattering. Ive been wearing it with a thin merino bomber jacket from Ibex (“shak” style bomber).

  6. Diane says:

Boden is also great for tall sizes. I have a lot of pants and dresses from there. But most importantly to me, they have cute one-piece swimsuits in tall sizes. They are thick and durable and I always get compliments on them.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
