The Range: Spring Dresses from Ann Taylor

Apr 12, 2023

This was my face upon seeing that nearly every dress (particularly the work dresses) at Ann Taylor this season are linen-blend.  I expect this kind of callow treatment from SHEIN or Forever21 or some other fast fashion realtor, but et tu, Ann?  Et tu?

Here are seven dresses from the AT website that are not linen or linen blend, because some of us don’t wish to look like we unballed our dress from the floor of our closet, wrinkles and all.  AT is currently having a sale, some pieces are available for 30% off 3+ pieces and 20% off 2.

I love the flirty look of this Double Knit Dress.  It’s professional enough for work with a topper, but without, it’s fun enough for casual wedding.

This Cap Sleeve Sheath Dress gives you all the fun spring color in a work-appropriate package.  Try it with a long coatigan to make it work for work.

This A-Line Dress has such a playful shape.  I purchased it, but need to have it hemmed slightly.  I want it below the knee, but not quite mid-calf.  I’m excited to wear it with navy heels.

The print on this Wrap Dress is actually not dots, it’s tiny florals.  I would probably wear the dress more casually with a flat or sandal as a result, but still a pretty option in a lovely blue.

If you want a punch of color, this Short Sleeve Flare Dress is definitely the ticket.

This Tweed Trim-Pocket Dress has a great mid-century vibe.

And lastly, for a dress that could be worn to brunch or work, this Dotted Dress is a great pick.

A PSA to any Ann Taylor fans, they’ve been having problems this week with honoring their sale prices. After putting in the promo code, they charged me full price (and shipping!) for everything. Their customer service was receptive, but double check your statements to make sure you only paid the discounted rate.

I recently had this happen with Cozy Earth but caught it before sealing the deal. They didn’t want to honor it immediately and said they needed to escalate the issue despite being able to see it themselves.

They responded a few days later with an offer to honor, but honestly it soured me. I hope AT remedied swiftly!

I love your snarky vitriol for fashion things that you don’t like. Makes me lol every time.

I stopped shopping at AT when a snarky sales associate “explained” the NY sales tax to me. Basically she got everything wrong.

Right?! What’s with all of the linen in workwear? No, AT and J.crew, I will not buy a dress or suit that will be wrinkled by the time I get to work. Love the first blue dress!

OK I’m kind of living for the linen blend – SO much more breathable that the full-poly that AT makes a lot of things out of, for some reason that fabric creates and holds onto sweat/BO like none other – but… maybe not for dresses. Or pants. Nothing that sees a lot of movement.
