That piece on body image and sex brought me to tears; I haven’t seen those feelings articulated clearly anywhere before, but it is exactly what I am struggling with in my late 30s. I’m so happy with so much of my life but love and sex are two things where I just feel adrift much of the time. It’s so frustrating.

I recently rewatched Sex and the City with some friends (it did not age well, spoiler alert) but watching it today vs in my teens/early 20s was eye-opening, and I saw some of my own problematic beliefs, assumptions and behaviors (similar to what’s in the article) in that show. Thank you for sharing the article!

Ugh that substack post! How do we do better? How do we give our daughters more?

I’m reading Girls and Sex by Peggy Orenstein so this is timely but oh so hard to read.

Wow did that piece ever hit close to home, tears at my desk close… A lot to unpack. Thank you for sharing something so thought provoking.

Wow, that substack article. I read it yesterday when you posted it and am still thinking about it today. Great find, thanks for sharing.

  5. Carla says:

I hate to out myself here but…what’s wrong with ballet flats? For my foot-shaped feet, they are more comfortable than a pointed toe. Is is the flatness? Also more comfortable for me. BUT, I am willing to be convinced otherwise if they actually are heinous!

  6. Nellie says:

Abra, what do you like about those Nordstrom pajamas as opposed to the Moonlight ones?

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

Three Outfits I’ll Wear All Spring

When I started this blog, influencers still re-wore clothes. There were no haul videos filled with the latest from Shein before it winds up in a beach in Ghana poisoning the planet. There were no sponsored campaigns delivering fresh wardrobes each month. The content machine doesn’t like reruns.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
