One Day Left: Top Picks from the J.Crew Sale

Sep 6, 2022

With Labor Day behind us, J.Crew is offering 40% off full-price items to get your closet into shape for the fall.  Here are a few of my favorite pieces to give your wardrobe a boost as the weather cools down.

This Leighton Blazer is the cozy top layer you need for fall.  I love the ivory and the olive.

I need these stacked leather boots to wear with dresses.

The nutmeg color on the Excursion vest is perfect for fall.

This slim-fit chambray shirt is the layering piece you need to wear with casual pieces.

Do I need a berry-colored business suit?  Yes, I think so.

The slim corduroy pants are on my wishlist for casual Friday wear, since I need something nicer than jeans.

I love the preppy look of this front-pocket cardigan.  The color makes it an incredible layering piece for almost any season.

Just sending love — your stories over the weekend really affected me. Hope you are recovering (both physically and emotionally).

  2. Chandra says:

Long time reader (10+ years!), but out of the loop on your status and the updates readers keep mentioning. Just one of many followers who is wishing the best for you but has no clue what is happening!

  3. Michaela says:

Wishing you a smoother recovery and better medical care from here forward. Your story is horrible and I’m sure all too common. Thank you for sharing (pinned on her IG if anyone else wants to get filled in).

No idea how you have the energy to post, but excited to check these and the rest of the sale out.

  4. Tara says:

New reader. I am so grateful you are alive and so angry, sad and terrified about your experiences over the past few days. Too close a call. Sending you lots of love and healing. xoxo

  5. Nancy says:

Oh, Abra, just so glad you made it through that horrifying experience, and both angry and sad that it happened at all. The days and weeks after birth put new mothers through a LOT, hard to overstate that, and for you to have had such inept and insensitive care in multiple ways, well, it just makes me furious. I hope you are getting your feet under you and feeling your strength return.. Wishing you lots of rest, abundant TLC, and many moments of wonder and joy to help balance it all!❤️

  6. S-P-C says:

Thinking of you, Abra – sending love and wishing you all the best for your recovery and your time with your daughter.

  7. Jamie says:

Thinking of you and wishing you well. I was very moved by your experience shared over the weekend and hope you are well into recovery at this point,

  8. Nel says:

Abra, wishing you the best on your recovery. ❤️

I wish every OB practice and every ER manager and every in-house hospital lawyer was required to view your story on this. Your story has happened to many women I know, luckily one before I had my first delivery, and I knew what to be on the lookout for. I didn’t need it, but that is more a factor of luck (and when you need luck, what you really need is for everyone to be on their A game and no foolishness among other ER patrons). Sadly, hope is not a strategy. Do people not remember that many women used to die after childbirth??? That when my mom had me, she stayed in the hospital for a week when she was under the gaze of nurses who knew what a bad complication post-delivery looked like (I get that that level of care may not generally be needed or desired, but they could connect immediately with the right resources because these are serious complications that deserve immediate and appropriate medical care). I hope your days get better and your recovery is uneventful.

  10. Jules says:

Echoing the outrage and well wishes here! Hope you are recovering – postpartum can be such a difficult time even under the best of circumstances. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
