Outfit Week: A Casual Friday Look

Jul 21, 2022

My sister-in-law works in a casual office, so most of the outfits that I post won’t work for her.  But recently, I put together an outfit for her from the wares at Old Navy that is perfect for a more relaxed job.  Let’s do it.

This shaker stitch cardigan comes in six colors, plus petite, tall, and plus.  It has enough texture to give it good weight and a more expensive look.

Normally, a brown floral peasant top is not going to draw my gaze, but when you mix it with the cardigan for a tone-on-tone look, it’s pretty great.  And it’s a nice summer-to-fall transition piece.

These ecru colored jeans are a great option for early fall or late summer.  They’re not as stark as white, but they have a great lightness to them. Sizes 00-30, tall and petite.

This gold toned necklace will complement the neckline of the top well.

Because it’s still summer, I’m not ready to style this with brown boots or loafers.  So I chose these raffia sandals, in a similar cream color to the pants, instead.

Well I want this entire outfit now. Thanks for this terrific look!

Great picks! Gently, might I suggest that a more casual dress code doesn’t necessarily correlate with a “more relaxed job,” though? I don’t think you meant to imply that it did but I am trying to be more intentional with my own language too. Thank you for the effort you continue to put into this blog in what I know is a busy season of life for you.

I didn’t do a birth plan. I read somewhere (or someone told me) that it creates expectations and if you have to deviate from it, it can lead to disappointment. So I didn’t do one and I have no regrets!

I appreciate the more casual options you share from time to time — thank you!

I can vouch for this shaker sweater! I have it in cornflower blue. It’s gorgeous and has held up for over a year.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
