May’s Five Bestsellers for Summer Style

Jun 7, 2022

What were your fellow Capitol Hill Style readers loving in May?  Check out last month’s five top sellers to find great basics for work and cool accessories.

A Cool Pair of Sunglasses.  I bought these Ray-Bans for my birthday, and I adore them (and many readers felt the same).  They’re a little but unique, thanks to the wireless rims, and the tortoise-colored ombre is to die for.  They’re a great bridge between a casual aviator and a more dressed up tortoise sunny.  (I keep getting stopped by women who want to know who made them.)

A Satin Shell Top.  This blouse from Vince Camuto comes in 10 colors, neutral and bright.  And while satin may seem fussy, because it’s “rumpled satin,” it never looks too buttoned up and hides wrinkles beautifully.  It’s the perfect under-suit top and it travels like a champ. (Also in petite.)

A Black Sheath Dress.  (We sold it out in Navy after I posted it to Instagram.)  As you know, I usually recommend dresses with sleeves.  And y’all usually buy dresses with sleeves.  But this Calvin Klein dress is the rare exception.  It’s a great a-line frock and it looks fabulous under a blazer or a cardigan.

Also, if you’re in need of <$50 work dresses.  Nordstrom Rack is stocked right now.  I love this short-sleeve Tulip dress, and this bright orange sheath is a stunner, wear it with a white blazer or, if you’re feeling saucy, hot pink.  (On a side note, I think I just convinced myself to buy a hot pink blazer.  I am addicted to BR jackets right now.)

Ball Suede Heel. Need a shoe that works for a wedding, brunch, or just because?  This Ball Suede Sandal from AT gives you a little bit of glamour in a neutral package.  They’re also 40% off today.  So even though I won’t be able to wear them this summer (thanks, pregnancy swelling), I bought a pair for next year.  Because that kind of style is timeless.

A Chain Link Bracelet. I own a lot of Rivka Freeman jewelry thanks to Nordstrom Rack.  So when I showed this chain-link bracelet a couple of weeks ago on Instagram, you ladies rushed to buy it.  And for under-$60, it’s a very well-made, heavy (but not cumbersome) piece of jewelry.  I also just bought her nail bracelet, inspired by the Cartier, and it’s a really fun wear as well.

So did you buy anything last month that you want to rave about?  Leave it in the comments, I always love to hear what worked, and even what didn’t.

I’m wearing the Sculpt-her pants right now. They really are amazing. Just said they only had my size in one color.

Thank you for sharing the Vince top! It looks the same as my favorite Banana Republic one (just called “sleveeless shirt”) except BR hasn’t had any fun colors in awhile.

Curvy ladies looking for shorts don’t sleep on Loft – I ordered the 6” inseam and love them. Sadly they don’t come in as many fun colors but the fit was ideal right out of the package

    2 things from your posts:

I bought the H&M faux wrap dress and am impressed! I can’t find the post about it to link…https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.1062747005.html

I also bought some pieces from the Hatch Target diffusion line that arrived today and are pretty cute and wearable – mentioned in this post: https://caphillstyle.com/capitol/2022/04/28/saw-it-on-social-hatch-mama.html

  5. Rachel says:

Can anyone who bought the CK dress tell me more about the fabric? Is it stretch like jersey or ponte? Nordstrom Rack makes it so hard to understand….

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
