Opinion Page: Product Follow-ups, No. VIII

Apr 14, 2022

It’s been a minute since I followed up on some past recommendations and purchases.  So let’s take a moment to go back in time and review some items we’ve talked about before.

For several years, I have been wearing a pair of Rothy Points in mocha leopard.  The issue is that they’re tough to wear with black pieces because the print is entirely brown.  So when I spotted Rothy’s new Desert Cat print, I bought a pair immediately.  They pair so well with black pieces, I wear them frequently.

I wrote a few weeks ago about my love for KVD’s Good Apple Foundation.  (It’s the perfect thing for smoothing damaged skin and concealing redness and discoloration.)  So when I needed to replace my beloved, discontinued Bobbi Brown blush, I decided to give KVD’s Everlasting Blush a try.   I chose the Rosebud color — a dusty mauve — because it looks like you mixed bronzer and with a rosy blush.  I love it for summer.

I bought these NYDJ Sculpt Her Leggings a few weeks ago, and I can’t say enough good things about them.  The material is thick, shaping, and gives you the comfort of leggings in an iteration you can wear to work.  (Also available in plus-size.)  If you prefer a different style, they also use this material in their Pull-On Wide Leg pants. (These pants are how I’m surviving early-pregnancy.)

Carrying medication every day is more challenging than I anticipated.  I tried several pill caddy’s before My Sister Made Me Buy It convinced me to try Mini Candy’s pill caddy.  The case is lightweight, easily fits in a purse and has four compartments to store medication in.  Need more space?  The company also offers this Travel Pill Box and this large Pill Organizer.

I’ve been on the hunt for dresses in forgiving cuts.  This Willow Nadine Popover Shirtdress is a versatile dress that can be worn to work or on weekends.  You can cinch it up with this Mango belt for a stronger silhouette.  Or you can tailor it slightly and wear it unchinched.  It looks professional, but wears relaxed.

I bought a pair of black Rothy’s full price on your advice and they quickly became the only pair of shoes I wore. I found a leopard pair on Poshmark in decent condition for $60, and since I could wash them, I didn’t feel grossed out by buying used shoes!

Pull-on pants: a MUST these days! I haven’t had luck getting the NYDJ (my size sells out whenever you post about them haha) but I have had luck with Rekucci pants — available direct or on amazon (https://rekucci.com/collections/pants). The various cuts and degree of tummy control are handy features, and the several pairs I have wash and dry like a dream.

  3. Marie says:

Can’t wait for the review of the Always Fits jeans!!

  4. Sara says:

I FINALLY bought the NYDJ wide leg ponte pants…LOVE THEM. I see others saying they keep selling out. Keep trying, because they are worth it.

Curious if you ever had a full review of the Nuface device? Thx

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
