The Beauty Range: New Picks for the Sephora Rouge Sale

Apr 1, 2022

Today, the Sephora Sale begins for Rouge members.  The sale is a great time to try new products, stock up on favorites, or splurge on a must-have beauty tool.  I’ve already covered the basics I like to buy at the sale, so let’s talk about few new-to-me products that are on my wishlist.

These Westman Atelier bronzer, highlighting, and blush sticks have many devotees.  Essentially every influencer I love to follow, loves these.  So it was time to give them a try.

While I love my KVD Good Apple foundation, it’s a little heavy for weekend wear.  So I’m going to give this Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint, a lightweight foundation with SPF 40, a try.

Wearing my hair extensions, I need to pull my hair into low ponytails to avoid damage to the sewn-in wefts.  These Slip Silk Scrunchies are supposed to be tops for keeping the hair tied up but preventing damage.

NARS Radiant Creamy Liquid Corrector is supposed to be better than my beloved Bobbi Brown, at least that’s what one of the influencers I follow says.  So it might be time to give it a try.  If you have under-eye darkness, correct it, don’t conceal it.

I just switched to the Ilia serum and it’s FABULOUS! Sephora helped me match the color, they have a lot of options. It dries quickly as you apply but the coverage is just the right weight and lasts all day. Doesn’t feel heavy, doesn’t sweat out. Nice dewy finish. Their concealer is worth grabbing too.

I can’t remember if you’ve posted or talked about your experience with extensions? Would you mind sharing how you like them? Pros/cons? Thank you

FYI Abra, the link to “the basics I like to buy at the sale” goes to a Sephora link for Ouai hairspray – if deliberate, that’s great / thanks for the rec, but just for your awareness in case it’s meant to go to an older blog post.

Hope you’re feeling healthy and rested these days!

I also use the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40. At first, it felt so different, I had to give it a good week before I felt comfortable with the application. The matching concealer is a great addition because the serum coverage is nicely sheer. I follow Bobbi Brown’s advice and apply the concealer first to the skin to blend out any redness, and then follow it with the serum foundation and blend. It looks like my real skin, but much better. I use a blender brush to lightly ‘airbrush’ the texture a bit, and it removes some of the shiny dewy-ness when I don’t want it. Some sheer powder in the T-zone if needed.
I, too, would go to Sephora in person to test the shades to get the best match. And who can beat the 40 SPF? Perfect and worth every penny. Thank you, Ilia.

Love that west man atelier set. Originally bought for practical post-gym/travel to replace compacts and liquid blush…but now it’s all I want to use. I like how it blends in smoothly (not as scary dark as expected) and looks more natural than powders all over my face.

I purchased the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint a couple months ago and was really excited about it! Mostly I was excited about the SPF40! Sephora was very helpful in helping me match the foundation to my skin and it looked great. Unfortunately, it made my forehead skin peel in weird big pieces! Sadly, I returned it. Hopefully you have a better experience.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
