Would love to hear your thoughts on bringing up bebe. I thought it had really good advice about food, but I think it gave me slightly unrealistic expectations about a child not really changing life.

    • Susan says:

Loved loved loved that book. Still had terribly picky eater babies. Now have terribly picky kids. LOL.

    • JD says:

Also loved it, especially the sleep chapter. It helped me understand what societal support for pregnant women, babies, and families might look like, and the extent to which our country does not see it as a public good to provide services to promote the health of those populations.

      • Rebecca says:

Another fan of Bringing Up Bebe. It came out when my kid was a preschooler, and it definitely influenced some of the decisions I made at that time.

Side note: did anybody else pronounce “Bebe” like Moira Rose? Just me? Ok.

    • AL says:

Parenting Without Borders by Christine Gross-Loh was another fascinating read for me. Really fun to see how other cultures approach raising kids and helped to remind me to keep everything in perspective.

    • Rar says:

Another one who loved loved loved this book. That said, now that I have kids I can say I rarely reference it or think about it. Too busy trying to survive, haha.

    • Katharine says:

I love that book! I read it while I was pregnant with my first and picked it up again with my second. I don’t think of it so much as a how-to parenting book (though the sleep chapter has some solid advice). But the parenting vibe it communicates is very refreshing. It pushes back against the idea of constant parental anxiety and competition, which I loved.

  2. Ellen says:

Love these roundups. Especially the social media quote

Also the boyfriend jeans link goes to the cost of fashion link.

  3. Naomi says:

I really enjoyed the story about the Justices and their lunches. Justices – just like us? I wonder if there’s something intentional about not having high (any?) demands for lunch; it’s very humble, and I appreciate that.

  4. Erica says:

I have lost weight wearing the Good American Always Fit jeans. When I purchased, I was at the top of the four size range. Now I’m at the second to lowest and they still fit. I’d love to hear if others have this experience, too!

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
