I’m not sure that I know what this means.  Maybe it means something different to every woman who reads it.  But I’m trying to figure it out.

I think the line in The Last Word means if you put yourself first in what you do, everything else on the list will be done well.

After having lived with 5 dishwashers, ranging from manufactured in 2000 through 2018, I no longer believe these articles about “do not prerinse”. Most of my dishwashers were energy star, recent ones had the super-duper optical sensors. I read their manuals, I annoyed my partner with proper loading. And yet, 2-day-old avocado smeared on a plate would not come off.

Absolutely agree! The dishwasher that my parents installed in 1989 would take anything off; we never rinsed dishes growing up. My dishwaser from 2009? Not so much. We rinse everything. I now consider the dishwasher more of a disinfector than a washer.

Heads up Abra, the second daylight saving link seems to go to the same NPR article as the first.

The Revlon oil-absorbing roller is so fantastic. I bought several as just a little goodie to add to my bridesmaid gifts. My wedding was in the middle of August and I thought they might be helpful with dealing with makeup and the heat of a long day. Didn’t think I’d use mine much beyond that, but then I threw it into my bag when I packed for a week and a half long trial. It became a lifesaver. It is such an easy and simple way to look (and feel) refreshed.

While I’m finally past the teen/college years of constantly oily skin thanks to poor skincare, general lack of sleep, and questionable diet and alcohol habits, long stressful work days can still take their toll. I keep this roller in my purse and it really does make a difference.

I want to share this article about blue light glasses. There’s still not concrete evidence that they have a positive effect.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
