Six Affordable Work Basics from H&M

Mar 16, 2022

H&M is one of my favorite places to browse the racks.  Nothing makes me happier than finding a great basic that can fill a hole in my wardrobe.  Here are a few neutral pieces that are perfect for the office.

This lace-time tank (also in black) would be perfect under a sweater or blazer.  The trim is such a pretty detail.

This plus-size (L to 4XL) shirtdress is a fantastic office (or weekend) basic.

This belted jacket definitely caught my eye.  It’s also lightweight enough to wear as a heavy blazer.

I showed this black dress on the model because I didn’t want you to miss the gorgeous silhouette.

This collarless blouse style is one of my favorites, I’m always happy to have one in my closet.

The rib-knit and tortoise buttons give this cardigan a fantastic, business casual style.

I return to the office tomorrow after 2+ years working from home. I want to buy at least three of those immediately, and yet I’m making myself wait a few weeks to see how my current wardrobe works with my 3-days-in-office needs before adding items to fill the holes. Or start from scratch, if it turns out that’s what I need to do.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
