Monday Outfit: A Look for Thanksgiving Dinner

Nov 15, 2021

Thanksgiving dinner falls somewhere between casual and dressy in my family.  You’re supposed to dress up a bit, but a cocktail dress isn’t on the menu.  This look could work for a holiday dinner, office party, or relaxed date.

Jacey from Damsel in Dior wore this look to an anniversary dinner, but it’s a nice look for a family event as well.  The sweater dress is an easy look that you can dress up or down.  So let’s put it together.

Sweater Dress. This turtleneck dress from Splendid has a chunky, mixed texture sweater. Sweater dresses are a versatile option for fall and winter.  I like the Splendid dress because it has a unique weave pattern.  The chunky look is a little more relaxed.

Looking for something under-$100?  Try this dress from WAYF or this one from BB Dakota.  Prefer a v-neck?  Try this Ann Taylor shawl collar sweater dress or this affordable option from Old Navy.  Plus-size?  Try this Boohoo turtleneck sweater dress or this v-neck dress from The Drop.

Boots. Hey, did you hear knee-high boots are back?  I thought it was going to be ankle boots forever, but taller styles are hot right now.  This pair from Vince Camuto comes in a variety of colors and textures with a 3.75in heel.  Prefer a flat boot?  These cognac boots from Dune are very chic, or try this amazing croc-effect pair from Nila & Nila.  Need a wide calf option?  Try this boot from Zodiac that looks just like the Vince Camuto pair.

Bag. This pleated clutch from Steve Madden is the kind of bag you will reach for over and over again.  It holds more than you think.  It adds a little something extra to any outfit.  And the optional strap lets you wear it over your shoulder if you wish.

Bracelets. A couple of chic cuffs add the right amount of sparkle to this outfit without being overwhelming.  I chose this Katya cuff with a chainlink look, and this black resin Alessia cuff with clear stones.  Both bracelets are from Baublebar and would look amazing together or separately.  (And they make great gifts too.)

Sunglasses. These $15 sunglasses from Amazon look a much more expensive Celine pair.  I own them in two colors and wear them with regularity.

Spruce up this look with a great lipstick (this red is a great option).  Whether it’s for dinner with family or a friendsgiving, you’ll look like a million bucks in this look.

I love this look. So chic!

I just got two pairs of knee high boots, one from JCrew (Sadie), and one from Madewell (Francie tall). Both on massive sale, thank goodness! So excited that they are making an appearance again! I’d say the Madewell are just a bit more foot friendly as they are slightly less heel height, but both are awesome quality.

I was just poking around to see if tall boots are officially back! Delighted to have confirmation and the cute outfit suggestion.
