Belle’s Gift Week: Gifts I Would Buy Myself

Nov 8, 2021

I am the number one proponent for self-gifting.  Because if you want a job done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself.  And while it would be lovely to have a partner who listens attentively and knows me so well that he picks out the perfect gift without direction, this mythical creature is not the man I married.  So this week, I’ll be sharing the gifts that I would buy for myself, because I’m worth it.

As for those of you who might believe that this series is just a transparent attempt to get my wish list into my husband’s hands without telling him directly what I want, I would never do something so childish.  Instead, I AirDrop desired items to his iPhone like an adult.

Last week, I spotted a Pinterest ad for Monica Rich Kosann necklaces, and ever since, I’ve had locket pendants on the brain.  The trouble is that the name is indicative of the price point we’re talking about here, “rich.”  Apparently, Pinterest thinks my financial status is  yacht weekends in St. Tropez instead of pontoon boat in North Idaho.

Searching for the locket of my dreams in a price point that doesn’t require a mortgage, this Harris locket from Missoma appeared.  I loved the enamel work with the pearl accent.  I also loved this Phoenix pendant from Wolf + Badger.

For something in an even more affordable price point, this Ella Rae pendant is completely adorable.  I also like this Ben Amun option on a double chain.  For necklace under-$100, this North Star locket is fantastic, and there’s always Etsy.

I’m very excited for this series because I need some ideas to provide to my husband for Christmas!

  2. Kate says:

I just love this tongue-in-cheek post. It made me smile!

  3. C says:

I like the look of the Missoma locket but I have a real problem paying north of $300 for something that is just plated. At least the chain is included and is vermeil rather than plate.

  4. Nancy says:

Laughed hard at this: “I AirDrop desired items to his iPhone like an adult.” Right, because he won’t be riding a white horse, and can’t read your mind. Some aspects of happiness are really so simple!

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
