The Beauty Range: My Favorite Moisturizers

Sep 10, 2021

It’s that time of year again, when the weather turns, the air grows dry, and your skin could use a little extra moisture.  Here are a few of my favorites.  Leave your best picks in the comments.

This Farmacy Daily Greens Moisturizer is really light, oil free and hydrating.  I use this when I need a little bit more moisture, and it doesn’t break me out or give me that oil slick feeling an hour later.

This Black Tea Age Delay Cream from Fresh is worth every penny of the $90 price tag, and you know it’s hard for me to spend that kind of coin of face cream.  I bought my Nana some for her birthday, and now, I buy it for her quarterly because it brings real joy to a 90-year-old lady.

This Indie Lee Squalane Face Oil is my “break glass in case of emergency” dry skin savior.  It’s on sale right now (score!) and just a drop or two at night will rescue my skin in 1-2 days.

I’m 45 and have great skin. The skin on my face and neck makes me look like I’m 30 (sadly my hair and figure do not!). But I have definitely learned along the way to use more and more deeply hydrating products as I age. I now use the cerave body cream (the one that comes in the big white and blue tub) for my face and neck. Wish it had a pump dispenser bc it would be more sanitary for such a large container. But I measure it out into a smaller one and dip my fingers in there. A year’s supply is about $16 on sale 🙂

I swear by SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream. I have eczema prone skin and it doesn’t irritate it at all. Its a heavy cream so I only use at night but I love it. They have a lighter lotion that I want to try for daytime use.

  3. E says:

Neutrogena Hydroboost extra dry gel-cream in the little blue and white tub is a miracleworker for my face. For body it’s Aveeno year-round, with Kiehl’s ultimate hand salve for cracked and peeling hands and feet.

    • Cait says:

+1 To the Neutragena Hydroboost! It’s my go-to moisturizer, supplemented by Grace & Stella hyaluronic acid serum and the Tony Moly Banana Sleeping pack if things get super dry.

      • Allie says:

Another +1 for the Neutrogena Hydro Boost! I had a horrible reaction to CeraVe and went right back to my lovely little blue jar.

  4. MJ says:

Do you have any recommendations for hydrating eye cremes? The one I have relied on for years is no longer available and I need to find a replacement. Thanks for any suggestions!

  5. Lisa says:

I have dry-ish skin but not so bad that I have to use facial oils typically (I hate the feeling, prefer serum-like moisturizers). However, recently I went hiking and came back with, not quite a sunburn but REALLY dry flaky skin on my face. I was desperate enough to try the Farmacy Honey Grail which I had lying around from a gift set I’d bought last year in order to get their Honeymoon Glow AHA serum (which is also amazing btw). The next day, I had to physically exfoliate my face to get all the flakes off… but my skin was so soft underneath the flakes! I still won’t be using facial oil except in extreme situations, because I can’t get over the oily feeling, but that shit works.

  6. ANNE says:

I have really fallen in love with the Welda Skin Food moisturizers.

  7. Bridget says:

I switched to Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré about 6 months ago, and I don’t plan to ever stop. My skin has never been in better shape than it is now. I use this in combination with the Kora Organics face oil. I have really dry skin and this combination has changed my life! No more dry patches. The only downside is that it doesn’t have SPF so I have to add a step, but it’s worth it.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
