Summer Dress Week: Back to Work

Jul 20, 2021

Going back to the office this spring was so weird.  Being in groups of people.  Wearing work clothes with their waistbands and stiff fabrics was jarring.  But if the recovery continues, most of us are headed back or already back.  And this dress is an easy, affordable addition to any wardrobe.

This Calvin Klein Seamed Sheath Dress is a nice choice for the office.  It’s got just the right amount of structure without being tight.  It’s a great dress for when you don’t know what to wear in the morning.

Sizes run 2-14; black is also available in petite. It also comes in several colors.  I especially like this tweed-like, black and white melange.  The tweed is also available in plus-size.

Calvin Klein dresses are by no means high fashion.  But the quality is good for the price, and they come in work-appropriate styles that work for many body types.  They also make most of their pieces in misses, petite, and plus.  So don’t write them off.

Macy’s is the best place to find CK dresses.  This long sleeve dress with a little puff in the sleeve caught my eye.  If you don’t mind hunting for a deal, you can also find a lot of their styles at Nordstrom Rack.

If you are into thrift stores I have found so many calvin klein dresses at thrift stores in brand new condition. Usually for less than 10$ each.

What are some good necklace options for this dress these days? My big, bright, chunky necklaces from 2013 are both no longer my style and no longer in style (I think?). When I wear more delicate and layered necklaces, they end up tangled underneath the neckline and don’t add much to the outfit. Thoughts?

I have this dress in black, which I purchased for my grandfather’s funeral. Definitely a solid professional option. My observation – based on this dress and other CK suiting – is that Calvin Klein tends to run slender through the hips. So if you are curvy (hi!), think about sizing up.

Love Calvin Klein! I have a ton of sheath dresses from them, mostly from Nordstrom Rack and Macy’s. CK sheath dress + J.Crew sweater blazer was basically my big law uniform pre-pandemic. Haha

I love this dress and have 8; this was my year round uniform (in nyc winter- with fleece stockings, otk boots, turtleneck under and blazer over). I size up and get the top taken in for my pear body.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern
