A Short Video. Why the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is better than the U.S. side.

During the Legislative Session, my stress coping skills were absolute trash.  In the morning, I ate donuts.  At night, I drank Bourbon.  Not exactly a health and sustainable practice.

So as we head back to the office or continue to trudge through the WFH life, I wanted to suggest an alternative to eating and drinking our collective feelings: at your desk meditation.

I recently started this quick, simple practice, and was surprised by how much it could re-center a stressful day.  If you have the ability to move around a bit, I recommend Sarah Beth Yoga’s Five-Minute Restorative Exercise.  If you need to stay seated, Goodful has a five-minute guided meditation that you can do anywhere.

Love the article on mansplaining. I’ve been thinking about the topic a lot lately, and the best way to handle it when one encounters it (as I so often have, in law/government/tech). Last week when I finally asked three men how to find a time for all of us to meet (because by looking at the availability on their Google calendars there did not appear to be an overlapping window of availability), one of said men helpfully shared with me how to use Google calendars to find availability, complete with screenshots. I’m fairly new to the company and simply told him thanks, that my difficulty was in finding overlap of the schedules, not in not knowing how to use the calendar, but part of me wonders if I should have let him know how incredibly condescending it came across.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
