The Range: Sun Hats for Summer

Jun 9, 2021

A sun hat is a summer essential.  I wear one at the pool.  I wear one when I work in the yard.  Here are a few options to keep your face out of the sun this summer.

I like this color block Panama Hat with the pink woven band.  It’s a nice change from the black banded versions that I’ve bought in the past.  I like the lightness of the pink.

This floppy hat from Nordstrom is a nice look if you prefer something with a wider band.  It’s a very beachy look.

Looking for something truly floppy?  This oversized hat from Free People comes in several colors and has that ’70s Palm Springs look covered.  It’s also completely packable because it rolls up into a tube-like shape.

This Wolf & Badger hat is the perfect packable fedora.  It’s got a great shape, a cool band, and it’s made ethically and sustainably. If you are looking for ethical shopping options, Wolf & Badger recently started labeling their products with icons to indicate which are made with ethical labor and farming practices, as well as sustainable materials.

I’m a big fan of Tula hats in Austin. Not all are packable but really beautifully made.

Another vite for Tula! Their hats are beautiful and SPF 50! Not packable but love them for the Texas heat. Got my last one at Whole Foods.

10/10 recommend this one from Old Navy. It throws enough shade to protect the delicate shoulder meat.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
