So Nice, I Bought It Twice: No. 2

Jun 3, 2021

I don’t think I have ever received as many DMs or reader mail about a feature than I have about this one.  So let’s bring “So Nice, I Bought It Twice” back around for a second look.  Here are the items that I loved enough to replace when empty, buy a second one for when the first one wore out, or bought in another color.  Because when you love something, you definitely need another.

I own three of these sweatshirts from Daily Ritual.  Recently, I lost my striped one to an incident involving a bottle of bleach.  I bought it immediately.  Not the next day.  Not an hour later.  Like in the laundry room, in the Amazon app, buying a replacement.

I also a bought a bright yellow one for summer.  So whether you need a basic neutral or a pop of color, this is the sweatshirt.

Let’s talk my favorite eye makeup.  Charlotte Tilbury’s Eye to Mesmerize Eyeshadow Pots are the best product ever.  I own the champagne, the rose gold, and the chocolate bronze.  The colors are richly pigmented, smooth on easily, blend beautifully, and last all day.  Also, one pot will last months.

For eyeliner, I use their Feline Flick when I want the perfect, thin cat-eye look.  I’ve used a lot of eyeliners, liked a few, but this one is the immediate replacement.  For a casual look when I just want more definition, the Amethyst and Garnet eye shadow pencils are the perfect option.  I just replaced them for the fifth time in three years.  Need a drugstore version?  The Color Tattoo sticks are the closest thing I’ve found.

Ray-Ban Aviators are my go-to sunglasses option.  I have three pair that I’ve picked up over the years.  The matte gold.  The all black.  And this new black and gold combination, which feels really fresh.

I like them because they’re lightweight, they can be worn with anything, and they stay on (thanks nose pieces).  Also, if you’re petite or need a smaller frame, you can find Ray-Bans in multiple sizes.

This “Bought It Twice” comes from my husband.  Davines Medium Hold Finishing Gum is his must-have hair product.  It gives the “perfect style-able hold.”  It’s not greasy or heavy, and a little goes a long way.  If the tin empties before the replacement arrives, he has serious hair disappointment until the delivery comes.

You should include the LL Bean field jacket in this category. I know if mine ever got damaged I would get a new one right away.

How do you use the eye pencils? I’m very intrigued (especially by the purple color!) but need some pointers on technique. Do you put one color on the whole eyelid? Use one for the crease and another for the lid? Are the two colors you recommended work-appropriate? I’m eyeshadow-challenged. Help!!

Same. I’d love a CT eye look explainer. I bought an amethyst eye stick from Laura Mercier thinking it’d be easy to use, but I’m struggling to get the right look that’s not just a thick smudge!

Random question about the men’s hair product. If it isn’t too personal, could you share his hair type? My husband has super thick hair and struggles to find something that works for him. Thanks!

Readers could contribute things we’ve bought twice on your rec 🙂
-amazon faux wrap midi dress (2 colors!)
-colorfulkoala leggings (2 colors so far)

    • Niki says:

Indeed we could! I now own four FP Ottoman sweaters. 🙂

    • Chloe says:

Oh yeah. Three pairs of koala leggings over here.

I wish i could buy the Nordstrom Halogen wool-cashmere turtleneck tunic sweater twice! I bought the oatmeal colour and it is so beautiful. But by the time I went back they only had a pink colour I wasnt keen on 🙁

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
