One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure. // William Feather

+ The uneasy intimacy of work in a pandemic year.

+ Am I the only woman who has ‘sleeping underwear‘?

+ ‘I called off my wedding, and the Internet will never forget.’

+ Anthropologie’s dress section is awash in color.  This pink dress (petite/plus) caught my eye.

+ Companies should do more to normalize career breaks.  Also, a Twitter thread about how my own career hiatus made it hard to break in to the legal profession.

+ This rattan bed tray makes WFH glamorous.  Just add a printed caftan.

+ The Power of Napping.

+ Boden has the best one-piece swimwear section.  Their Corsica suit is amazing.

+ Tip for managers on creating open communication on their team.

+ Amazon has all the summer sandals you could ever need. I’m starting with these.

+ Whatever happened to the shoe brand Toms?

+ Aesop, one of the few brands that lives up to the hype.

Long Read. ‘We found a baby on the subway — now he’s our son.‘  An honest to goodness feel-good story.

We the people of Montana grateful to God for the quiet beauty of our state, the grandeur of our mountains, the vastness of our rolling plains, and desiring to improve the quality of life, equality of opportunity and to secure the blessings of liberty for this and future generations do ordain and establish this constitution.

Great reads/links/etc! I’m forwarding a link so that my hubs, who is a hiring manager, can read about career gaps from Abra and the HBR article.

The Wired article is so good – I feel like it’s worth a re-read. (And is related to why I browsed for baby related/fertility related articles in incognito windows for a long time.)

Aesop hand cream is THE best.

  2. Kelly says:

I had 8 months between getting laid off and starting a new job a few years back, and there has been exactly one interview where I got pushback on that. I really wish there was a better way to take breaks between or during jobs, and that it was acceptable if not encouraged for people to do so. We’d all be better off.

  3. Anna says:

I didn’t realize Toms weren’t a “thing” anymore. I’m totally out of touch with Gen Z though. They’re one of the only shoes I ever wear because I’m too lazy to bother with ties/straps/buckles/etc. anymore lol.

  4. HannAh says:

Yes to sleeping underwear! Also to sleeping socks.

  5. Rebecca says:

I’m hoping you’ll elaborate on Aesop soon. Are there particular products you like or recommend? What makes them great?

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

Three Outfits I’ll Wear All Spring

When I started this blog, influencers still re-wore clothes. There were no haul videos filled with the latest from Shein before it winds up in a beach in Ghana poisoning the planet. There were no sponsored campaigns delivering fresh wardrobes each month. The content machine doesn’t like reruns.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
