Happy Hour: Who Needs a Break?

Mar 26, 2021

I have been burning the candle at both ends for three months, and I am feeling it.  I come home at the end of the day and just retreat to my bedroom.  My systems are all on overload.  And I’m searching for ways to care for my body and my spirit.

Golden milk is a beverage made of plant-based milk and spices like turmeric, cinnamon, etc..  It’s a soothing beverage to drink at the end of a long day.  This recipe can be tweaked to suit your individual tastes, and is a great starting place for those who want to start making Golden Milk at home.

Once I put on these Colorfulkoala Joggers, my time off begins.  Don’t talk to me.  Don’t ask me to leave my home.  This is my me-time, and these are my me-time pants.

I can’t say it any more simply than that.

Want something with a little more of a fashion look to it?  Something that you can wear out of the house and look pulled together in?  These Libin cargo-pocket joggers look great with a simple blouse or sweater.  They also come in plus-size.

If you don’t want to make it yourself, Trader joe’s makes a wonderful golden milk, found with the other non-dairy milk in the beverages isle (so, not the refrigerator area). I use it in my overnight oats!

  2. Alexis says:

For anyone on the fence about the CK joggers, I second Abra’s enthusiastic recommendation. I am normally a 12/14 and the XL fits — not as loose as is shown in the photo, but nowhere near legging territory. I’m 5’7″ and the length is as shown.

I will say, I almost returned them because in the olive green color the cellulite on my bottom is noticeable (I wear them with a thong), but they are SO COMFORTABLE that I decided I don’t care. If I am planning to leave the house I just wear a longer top. I don’t think it would be an issue in the darker colors.

Based on Abra’s suggestion, I now own 2 pair of these joggers in black. I echo everything she says about how comfortable they are.

I am normally a size 4, so I ordered both a Small and a Medium and ended up keeping the Medium. They are neither baggy nor tight but hopefully appropriate for my age (61). I have worn them to run errands with a workout jacket or with a t shirt, denim jacket, and slip on sneakers.

Abra, may I suggest linking to an Indian chef’s recipe for golden milk given that the roots of this restorative drink are from there? I recommend https://sukhis.com/golden-milk-or-turmeric-milk-or-haldi-doodh/ since it seems like the photo you posted is on their website too.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
