The Range: Spring and Summer Dresses

Mar 10, 2021

Montana has six seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Fool’s Spring, and Second Winter.  Essentially, Fool’s Spring is a handful of days in late February or early March when it feels like spring, but there are probably a few weeks of snow still ahead of us.  But this fleeting glimpse of good weather has made me long for warm, sunny days…and the dresses that go with them.

Ditto MN. Yesterday 64 and all the snow here is gone, as we start the descent back towards freezing…..

  2. Hh says:

Any recs of type(s) of bras to wear with dresses with backs like these? Love all of these, but I think my regular bras would show.

  3. Amy says:

I feel like the period right after fake spring should just be called smud season, or as we jokingly refer to it ‘lousy Smarch weather’ courtesy of the Simpsons. Chilly, damp, muddy, with some heavy wet snow that won’t stick for long interspersed with bright, sunny, fake out days for ~4 weeks before ‘real’ spring. Ugh.

  4. Michelle says:

While we never go back to full winter, in Northern Virginia it’s been 70 degrees the past two days. But tomorrow we move back to 50’s as the high with close to freezing temperatures as the low.

I’ll be honest, I prefer the 50 degrees. I ran in sunny 70 degrees and was not prepared for how much harder that run was and how much more dehydrated I was.

  5. Niki says:

Bless those who can pull this look off. Living in Amish and Mennonite country – that’s all I see when I see these types of dresses! Nothing wrong with that, just makes me chuckle a bit.

    • E says:

I like to think more, Italian peasant in a sunny meadow than Amish, lol. 🙂 Although since I live in the rainy PNW and would get about two months of weather where I could wear this dress, it will continue to be a day dream.

    • Seventh Sister says:

I grew up near Amish country, so yes! The very thing for a teen girl to wear with her black cap for courting!

Went through a Target recently and could not decide whether the prairie dresses reminded me of Big Love or The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
