The Annual Valentine’s Day Post

Feb 8, 2021

Following the flaming train wreck that was 2020, I just didn’t feel very enthused to write a Valentine’s Day lingerie post.  So I asked you ladies whether you had any interest, and the answers were something of a mixed bag.  But for those who are on the hunt for lingerie, pajamas and clothes for V-day, here are a few choices.

Let’s start with traditional racy underpinnings.  After all, what would a Valentine’s Day post be without lace and satin?

Bloomingdale’s has the most interesting and stylish lingerie selection.  The issue is that it’s mostly black.  My favorite piece is this Bluebella set with eyelash lace and a cap-sleeve strap.  It has a pretty, but relaxed feel to it that makes it even more special, like you’re not trying too hard.

Nordstrom always has some good pulls, but the selection was limited this year.  This quarter-cup, balconette bra with sheer lace accents and high waist bottoms is so fun.  This deep v-neck teddie in a pretty mocha color also caught my eye.  Plus-size?  Try this dramatic ivory lace teddie.

Looking to skip the pretense of lingerie?  I can’t recommend this sheer robe with lace trim and a matching g-string.

If something more relaxed is on your mind, Free People has a wonderful cap sleeve bralette that is a lovely choice for the smaller chested.  For a larger bust, Google recommends this Cosabella lace bralette.

If you are shopping for something more affordable, H&M is a good place to start.  ASOS also has some nice options.  This Tutti Rougette set is worth a look.  Have a larger bust?  This Ann Summers bra in a pretty emerald green runs up to 44K.

If you’re not feeling anything lacy or snug-fitting for Valentine’s but you still want something pretty, Journelle has this fabulous silk short set.  Looking for something on the affordable side?  Try this Ink & Ivy set or this set from Jonquil in a pretty silver.

Prefer a nightgown?  This floral Natori nightgown has a bold print. Plus-size? Try this blush-colored silk and lace nightgown from iCollection.

Eberjey also makes a lot of comfortable, but pretty jersey pieces.  This long nightgown is worth a look.  This lace-trim camisole set is also worth a look.  But the piece I chose for myself was this jersey and lace chemise in a bold red.

If you’re not feeling underthings for this holiday, LOFT has plenty of fun options.  I love this stripe tee, and this cupid boatneck sweater.  I also like these bold, heart-print pajamas.

For something minimalist, this Rag & Bone tee is black with a subtle heart print on the hem.  I also love the delicate heart embroidery on this white tee.

Modcloth always has some whimsical pieces for Valentine’s Day.  I’m totally smitten with this speckled scrunchy, which will add some jazz to your simple ponytail.

Another fun option for V-day?  What about a fluffy tulle skirt?  Anthro has this ombre pink skirt.  Plus-size?  Try this blush one from ASOS.

Have other suggestions for fun Valentine’s Day clothing that isn’t too cute?  Leave them in the comments.

I am a tough time getting inspired for Valentine’s Day but I may spring for some new pajamas. This post has me feeling that I could try a *little* harder.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
