The Find: Wedding Band Stand-Ins

Jan 28, 2021

Are you familiar with the concept of a travel ring?  Essentially it’s a wedding-band style ring worn on a trip or to work or to any place where you might lose your wedding band or engagement ring.

It took me a few months to get used to wearing my wedding ring every day.  And just as I was getting comfortable wearing it all the time, I gained some weight.  Pretty soon, the ring just wasn’t comfortable anymore.

I don’t want to resize it, because I’m not planning to stay at this weight once the pandemic ends and gyms reopen, so I was looking for an alternative.  That’s when I read about travel rings.

This Pavoi X-Ring looks similar to my engagement ring band.  And at under-$15, it makes a nice option to wear to work.  It comes in yellow, white, or rose metal.

Pavoi makes dozens of rings.  Many are understated bands, some are more substantial.  The rings are also a good option to try if you’re trying to decide on a band style to wear with an engagement ring.

This open claw style ring caught my eye.  I also like the look of this Suzanne Kalan-dupe band.  And this Asscher-cut eternity band is pretty great as well.

Want something a little nicer?  Missoma has a number of nice rings for under-$100.  Their gold rope ring is worth a look.  I also like this claw ring with a sparkly accent and this star-studded ring that I layer with my wedding band from time to time or wear solo.

My wedding ring broke when we were saving up for our adoption and we put the fix it money towards that. 9 years have passed and I still haven’t fixed it because I’ve enjoyed wearing different rings in place of it over the years! At this point, I just can’t justify the $500 to fix the prongs when the cheap rings give me so much satisfaction. Currently rocking a three stone sapphire (fake stones on sterling silver) that I paid $20 for on Amazon. I don’t know that I’ll every buy “real” stones again.

Love this so much more than the silicone rings!

  3. Mallory says:

My wedding band is a family heirloom with tremendous sentimental value, so I would just die if anything happened to it. I have a silicone ring that I wear on the weekends/working out/doing outdoor stuff. I also wear it when we (used to) travel so I could put my real ones in our safe at the house. I definitely feel naked if I don’t have a ring on (one or the other!).

  4. Jessica says:

YES! I found a replica of my 3 stone emerald cut diamond ring that i wear when traveling. Big stress reliever.

  5. Annie says:

Thank you! I have the Suzanne Kalan fireworks as my wedding band, but have multiple wrist surgeries in the past six months and am still dealing with swelling. This is a great solution.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
