The Best Work Tops from Banana Republic

Jan 6, 2021

This weekend, I was packing to leave for Montana, when I realized something: I don’t own but three work blouses.  Given the glacial speed of Helena, Montana’s only dry cleaners with Saturday hours, three blouses was not going to get it done.  So in a pinch, my best in-person shopping option in Spokane was Banana Republic.

Like many retailers, Banana has pivoted to loungewear to accommodate the tastes of people trying to dress in a pandemic.  But, with a little searching, I was able to find a few tops that will coordinate with other business attire that I already own.  Many of these pieces also come in petite and tall and run from XXS to XXL.

There’s a delicate ruffle on the neck of this top that looks nice under a crewneck cardigan.

The photo of this top does not do it justice.  There are white dots on a sheer black material and little velvet dots as well.  And it is a special, special blouse for work or day-to-night.

This tie neck top is only available in petite online, but it’s available in stores in misses as well.  Just a nice, simple basic.

In person, the fabric on this half-placket top is a heavy, opaque Tencel.  It has a thickness to it that surprised me, since so many things are extra thin today.

I picked an animal print top, shocking! Or not at all.  It’s a fun alternative to dots.

Short, Dolman sleeves are a nice alternative to sleeveless.  This top gives you a little more coverage without the bulk.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
