Abra & Kyle’s Best Under-$50 Gifts

Nov 30, 2020

Kyle posted his gift guide last week, and I’m still working on mine, so I thought I would share our best picks for gifts under-$50.  From traditional stocking stuffer (under-$15) to cool, mid-price gifts, these are the presents that anyone would be happy to find under their tree.

Ever feel like you have run out of things to talk about with your friends and families?  These Reflection Cards prompt you with topics to discuss with your loved ones.  Break them out over brunch or on a car trip to help fill the silence.

The Ultimate Apron from Food52 is incredibly well-made.  It has extra long straps, so it fits anyone.  It has deep pockets, one with a measurement conversion kit sewn into it.  And best of all, it has built in pot holders, so you never have to search for a mitt.

The perfect gift for the husband who never remembers to charge his phone (anyone else have one?), this Anker PowerCore is pocket-sized and powerful.  It works with USB and USB-C devices.  And it’ll charge your iPhone 2x or Galaxy phone 3x.

These fruit and veggie huggers are a great way to store half-used produce without single-use plastics.  They’re a great gift for someone who is trying to eat healthier in the New Year.  I also like these Beeswax Food Wraps that have fun prints, and can be used to wrap up any kind of food.

54 Thrones is a black-owned brand that makes really luxurious hand cremes here in the USA.  This Cocoa + Coconut is my favorite.  And the packaging is also pretty great.

This limited-release sweatshirt from XO-LP is a remembrance of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.  Featuring her famous ‘dissent collar,’ the sweatshirt is a super-soft blend of cotton and fleece.  I love mine, and was so excited to give my Mother one that I didn’t even wait until Christmas.

This Golf Club Sharpener and Re-Grooving Tool is a nice gift for the golfer in your life.  The tool makes it easy to care for your own clubs, and is small enough to fit in the pocket of a golf bag.

Face masks are going to a part of our lives for a while longer.  Keeping your mask handy is easier with a face mask chain.  This one is from LOFT and comes in a chic, paper-clip chain style.

I buy this Rifle Paper Co. Explore Calendar every year.  The illustrations are so beautiful.  It’s a great addition to your office, kitchen, or cubicle.

Do you remember the movie The Sandlot?  This Hercules tee is a great piece of nostalgia.  The maker, Baseballism, is a small-business from Scottsdale that makes a lot of great, baseball-themed apparel.

Aged & Infused Cocktail Kits allow you to infuse your own alcohol with flavors like strawberry/jalapeno or spiced orange.  Since we’re going to be spending most of the winter in isolation, this is a nice gift for people who enjoy craft cocktails.

Monarch playing cards are a high-quality deck of cards that is a great gift for almost anyone.  Every junk drawer or game cabinet needs a nice deck of cards.

This Rabbit Bottle Stopper also comes with a selection of wine charms.  It’s a nice stocking stuffer for someone who likes to share a bottle of wine with friends and family at the end of the day.

this is a great list. thank you so much abra and kyle!

  2. NK says:

    Love this list-thank you!

  3. Michelle says:

OK please help a girl out. I cannot figure out how to use that body butter. It hardens SO much and it’s impossible to use. I have talked to the company, and they say to run it under hot water to get it soft enough to come out of the package. It doesn’t work. I also had Nordstrom open a new one, and none of the employees could even brute force it out. I had to cut the end off mine and put it in a ziploc bag. Is there a secret??

  4. Connie says:

How does that sweatshirt fit? The website says it’s unisex sizing, which I feel like can sometimes be a little tricky?

  5. Monica T says:

Love the infuse and pour kit! The one I like is backordered, but I don’t do many Christmas presents anyway and this would be a great small anytime gift for a cocktail lover! Also love the idea of playing cards, I have a pair of left-handed playing cards that are great for confusing righties and lefties a like, since we’re so programmed to use them the other way. A great theme would be a card games rule guide with a couple of nice packs of cards for a game night gift!

  6. Amy says:

Oh my gosh, I know Laura with XO-LP, and she is an amazing small business owner who goes above and beyond to give back to our local community. Thank you, Abra, for featuring a fearless female small business owner!

And while I don’t own the sweatshirt, I’ve seen it in person, and it’s more fabulous than it looks. I have the print framed on my desk.

    • Angela says:

I would also appreciate any sizing tips on the RBG sweatshirt. The site does not seem to have a sizing guide and I hope to order the correct size!

  7. Mindy says:

I’m also interested in how the sweatshirt fit and what size you went with.

  8. XO-LP says:

Thank you SO MUCH for including me. I’m honored!

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Find: My Best Workout Shorts

For eight years, I have worn the same workout shorts. Every year, an influencer tries to sell me new shorts. I order them. I try them on. They pale in comparison to the shorts I already own. I return them.
