MM LaFleur ‘Ready to Vote’ Sale

Oct 29, 2020

MM LaFleur rarely has sales, especially 50% off sales.  But through Election Day, MM is offering a serious discount on some of their best pieces to women who voted. #Readytovote

The process is simple, send MM proof you voted or are working to help others vote — a picture of you mailing your ballot, a screenshot of your online ballot tracking, a social media post encouraging others, or a photo of you volunteering at a phone bank — and they’ll send you the discount code.

You can contact them by DM’ing @MMLaFleur on Instagram, tagging your content with @mmlafleur and #readytovote, or emailing readytovote (at) mmlafleur (dot) com.

Some of MM’s very best pieces are in this sale.  And since I’m stocking up for the Montana legislative session in January, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

My top recommendation is the Morandi Sweater.  I’m actually wearing mine right now.  It’s the warmest sweater I own, and I couldn’t live without it in chilly government buildings.

I need more machine washable pieces, so I grabbed the Cobble Hill skirt, the Rivers Top and a Niko Dress.

I also finally grabbed a Woolf Jardigan (jacket/cardigan), a Tilda dress, and a Wilder top.

Pieces that I already own and I highly recommend include the Taylor dress, which is just super flattering on and has pockets.  I also like the Carmen jacket and Logan skirt worn as a suit, which I am excited to finally wear after buying it at the start of COVID.

If you’re back at work or headed back in the near future, this is a good time to buy office attire.  They also have a lot of jumpsuits, relaxed pants and simple tops that you can wear comfortably while working from home.

Full Disclosure: I’ve have a relationship with the MM brand for eight years now.  Sometimes they send me clothing as a gift, but I also buy a lot of pieces from them with my own money.  I continue to recommend them because I’m almost always happy with what I buy, and love the brand.

    1) I think it’s really awesome they are doing a promo affiliated with voting!
    2) Do you know what the return policy is for items purchased with the codes? I’ve never purchased from MM LaFleur so am making the dive…but am unsure about sizing/fit, etc. I’m worried I’ll get stuck with items that don’t fit if they consider this final sale. I’ve read the terms and conditions and didn’t see anything outlined about returns.

Is this legal? (I’m a political consultant). They might double check.

I think they can skirt the law(pun emphatically intended) since they are technically providing a discount for civic participation by providing a discount for those who phone bank, post on social, etc. federal law only directly prohibits providing things of value if and only if you voted

What’s the fit like on the Niko dress? I love the look on the website, but I’m pear-shaped (often have to have sheath dresses taken in on top to make them work) and the structured top looks like it might be difficult to alter.

Do you think MM LaFleur will still be relevant after COVID? Their styles were great when the DC dress was more formal (i.e. men in suits). But after COVID, I don’t see DC going back to the formality of ties. At best, suits but no ties. What does that mean for women’s style more generally? Would love your thoughts on this.

You know, I think MM can pivot to more relaxed styles. I don’t know what the dress code will be when this ends, but I assume there will still be offices that require more business attire. It’s just to early to tell.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
