The Range: J.Crew’s New Arrivals

Sep 10, 2020

J.Crew’s new arrivals for fall have a lot of pieces that are perfect for how we live now — casual, but cool.  They’re currently running a promotion for 40%-off three full-price items, two items are 30%-off and one item is 25%-off.  Here are some of my favorite picks (including my best purchase of 2019!).

Regent Blazer in Wool Flannel (petite and tall, 00-24)

Let’s start with one of the best pieces that I bought last fall.  This wool flannel blazer in a warm camel hue is perfection.  The cut is great.  The fabric feels expensive and good quality.  It was backordered for most of last year, so grab it while it’s in stock.

Everyday Chambray Shirt (also in petite and tall)

Juliette Collarless Sweater (in five colors, also in plus-size)

Band Collar Poplin Tunic

Double Breasted Herringbone Blazer

I love the Everyday Chambray Shirt but its so short. They have been out of stock so long in a 18 Tall that I doubt it is being made any longer. So frustrating.

    • Jill says:

Belle posted a chambray shirt from Nordstrom — 1901 brand?– in her more recent post that might be longer. I have a long torso, can’t wear the short shirt style.

  2. Diane says:

I’m seeing double-breasted blazers everywhere and would love to see some ideas on how to wear them! I have one I wear with skinny jeans and a tshirt, but would love more ideas!

  3. KK says:

Last fall I bought a Juliette sweater like that- I wore it over sheath dresses all September and it felt SO chic for work meetings and comfy for the flight home!

  4. Susan says:

J crew has pleasantly surprised me with this fall rollout. Feels a little more old school j crew. Let’s hope the quality returns as well. Fingers crossed!

  5. Monica T says:

All of these pieces are so cool, and while I’ve struggled in the summer to want to wear anything other than tank tops and shorts I love when the cooler weather comes and we actually want to wear this kind of stuff. Can’t wait!

  6. kate says:

bought the blazer because I missed it last year and regretted it continually.

  7. k-t says:

Sadly, only the blazers are included in the promotion. Neither of the shirts nor the sweater are included. I am sorely tempted to buy the chambray shirt at full price, as I have been hunting for the perfect chambray shirt for a few years…

    • E says:

Damn! I swear they just changed that–I put the chambray and a pair of jeans in my cart yesterday…just double checked and they now both say “excluded from promo”. I could just be losing it, but i swear both items included the promo language yesterday. Argh!!

      • Monica T says:

I don’t think you’re losing it, I had the same thing happen with the Everyday Chambray for their Labor Day sale, I went and added it, the discount applied, I bought it. Came back here to post about it, since Belle had it in a lineup, and when I checked again it wasn’t included! My purchase went through at the discounted price, I kept waiting for it to switch back to full price. Some kind of website issue I imagine, but it’s not just you!

  8. Tazdevil says:

I recall you having serious reservations about the quality of clothes from JCREW. How do you feel about the quality of their products now?

    • Belle says:

I’ve bought a few pieces from there since Jenna Lyons/Mickey Drexler left. I think the quality has improved. It’s not what it once was, but it is better than it was during the 2013-2015 era. The fabrics are a bit heavier, the styles more classic, etc. I’ve been happy with the things that I’ve bought, particularly the blazers. Better than BR, but not as good as old J.Crew.

  9. Valerie H. says:

I love the look and casual elegance of the camel blazer. I want so badly to make it work for me. But I live in south Florida where wool induces heatstroke 50 weeks of the year. Can you recommend a camel blazer in a lighter weight material that captures the same look as your fav JCrew Regent blazer? Thank you!

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
