Monday Outfit: Luxe Loungewear for Fall

Aug 24, 2020

Summer feels like a tease at this point.  We pushed back our honeymoon, then cancelled it.  We planned a trip to visit family, then cancelled it.  It was 100-degrees yesterday, then 76-degrees today.  So I’m calling it.  For the first time in the history of this blog, I am covering fall fashion in August.

Sweatshirt Daily Ritual Puff Sleeve Sweatshirt // T-Shirt Caslon Shirttail Tunic // Jacket Hunter Dark Olive Jacket // Pants AE Fleece Boyfriend Jogger // Bag Matt & Nat Selen Tote // Shoes Adidas Cloudfoam Sneakers // Earrings Barrett Stud Earrings // Sunglasses Ray-Ban Classic Aviators

This outfit is an oldie but goodie from Crystalin Marie.  The casual pieces have a little extra style to give that outfit that irrepressible cool-girl chic.

Sweatshirt // I have a feeling puff-sleeve sweatshirts will be a staple in my fall/winter wardrobe.  This under-$30 sweatshirt from Daily Ritual is my first choice.  It’s an elevated basic that is super soft and comes in a flattering length.  Pick it up in your choice of colors.

Plus-size?  Try this Eloquii sweatshirt.  Petite?  This Banana Republic sweatshirt is worth a look.

Tunic Tee // The key to this look is to choose a tee with a longer hem than the sweatshirt.  This Caslon tee has a shirttail hem that lets the bottom of the shirt peek out from under the sweatshirt.  For a more affordable option, Nordstrom Rack has this Halogen tee for under-$20.  It also comes in plus-size.

Jacket // I tried to find a deep, emerald green jacket like the inspiration image.  This Duck Bark Long Hooded Coat was as close as I could find, but I didn’t love the cut.  So I chose this Hunter Dark Olive jacket instead.

Prefer a light color?  Land’s End Squall Raincoat comes in a lovely sage color.

Joggers // Jeans are probably not on order for fall, so I switched out the chic open-knee jeans for a pair of easy joggers.  I put up these AE Fleece Joggers because they’re a very affordable option.  If you want something more expensive, Lululemon’s Align joggers and Vuori joggers are both solid options.  Plus-size?  Old Navy also has a pair.

If you’ve been contemplating a pair of Vuori joggers, you can read my review here.  Still want the jeans?  These Paiges are my favorite pair.

Accessories // Finish off the look with a pair of comfortable sneakers from Adidas (these are like walking on a cloud).  Add a chic tote bag, a simple earring in deep gunmetal, and a pair of chic aviators and you’re done.

Makeup // Makeup?  It’s a pandemic.  I’m wearing as little of that as possible.  I smooth out my complexion with a bit of Cicapair Tiger Grass cream, some mascara, lip color and the Zoom beauty filter.

I can’t thank you enough for ‘influencing’ me to buy the Vuori joggers. They just arrived today and are even softer and more luxurious than I expected. Worth every single penny!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
