Some friends and I are thinking about starting a baking club.  Every week, you bake an item and ship it to your friends.  It’s a way to keep in touch while enjoying something as a group.  So whatever you choose to make needs to be delicious and travel well.

Cookies are the obvious choice, but I’m thinking about making these Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Biscuits.  They look so good, and not like something I’ve ever made before.  Now, if I can just find a way to ship them.

Hi Abra, I saw you linked to some Gap new arrivals. I don’t know if you’d seen this story recently, that Gap and other companies are not adequately paying Bangladeshi garment workers amidst the coronavirus crisis. Might be worth looking into.

Your dad thinks you should send him some biscuits.

  3. Jules says:

Those biscuits look good. For some reason, buttermilk has completely disappeared from the shelves near my area. Haven’t seem a single carton since like March. huh.

    • Jess says:

A good substitute for buttermilk which I use all the time is 1 cup milk plus 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Let set for a few minutes. Works like a charm.

      • Kay says:

Also I made biscuits this weekend making butter milk with 1:1 sour cream and water. It worked perfectly.

        • Carly says:

One more option: Greek yogurt + milk. 1 cup buttermilk = 3/4 cup Greek yogurt + 1/4 cup milk. I never buy buttermilk and do this all the time. It may be a lil heavier but I feel good it’s healthier… kinda.

I love RTJ and Killer Mike. He has a good series on Netflix too

  5. Nancy says:

Those biscuits look delicious! Might be more than you want to spend, but we often pack baked goods in loose cereal-Rice Krispies work well.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
