Monday Outfit: A WFH Jumpsuit

Jun 22, 2020

We discussed jumpsuits a few weeks ago.  Normally, I am not a fan because jumpsuits make using the restroom in public a challenge.  But since most of us are working from home, it seems like the perfect time to give a jumpsuit a try.

Oh What a Sight to See has a number of ideas for summertime work from home outfits that are worth sharing, but this jumpsuit look is my favorite.  It’s light, breezy, and, once you remove the blazer, hot weather appropriate.  Let’s recreate it.

Look One. I chose this linen-blend jumpsuit from H&M because it is a reader favorite.  It comes in this light stripe and a basic black, and sells out every time H&M restocks.  If you prefer a sleeveless option, BR makes a pretty black one, Gap has a similar stripe print with a ruffle strap (also in tall and petite), and Other Stories has a light green one like the inspiration image.

Plus-size? This Modcloth floral also caught my eye (also in misses), as did this simple, striped number from Marks and Spencer.

For look one, I stuck to the inspiration photo and chose a white, shawl collar blazer.  This one from Express looks nicer than its price tag would suggest.  It’s a boyfriend style so the fit is a bit longer and looser.  Plus-size wearers should check out this casually styled Caslon blazer.

I added a tortoise hair clip for a half up-half down hair style.  This more skinnier option clicks in at $7.

Wearing your hair half-up will show off these lovely Roman coin drop earrings.  And for the shoes, I rounded out the look with a breezy pointed toe flat.  This shoe is relaxed enough for now but professional enough for the office.  They’re deeply discounted, and also come in black or an Elvis-fan-friendly blue suede.

Look Two.  How great is this oversized, purl-knit cardigan?  So affordable from Mango, and with a style that is wearable in a chilly office and perfect for fall weather.  I absolutely adore the balloon sleeve and the open styling.

Hey, recognize these sandals?  They’re back again because I can’t get them out of my head.  These bow-accented Kate Spades are finally coming home to their rightful place in my closet because at <$70, they were just too good to pass up.

If you want something more relaxed, these Aerosoles Westfield wedges have a cork heel and come in both medium and wide widths.  They look cute and comfortable.

Lastly, I accented this look with my favorite Shashi pearl hoops.  They’re feminine without being fussy.

Also, this look has a lot of light colors, so you’ll want to wear a bit of contouring bronzer and some lip gloss so you don’t get washed out on Zoom calls.  I like Benefit’s Dallas for a little bit of cheek definition.  And my easy, not sticky, lipgloss of choice is NYX’s soft matte lip cream.

Hi Belle! Can you talk about the quality of this jumpsuit? It looks so cute but I have become hesitant to buy from H&M because I found that their clothes would majorly/shrink fall apart after 1-2 washings.

What shade do you wear in the NYX Lip Cream? I have similar coloring and went to grab it from Ulta but I see that there is a vast array of shades. Any recs?

Can you do a roundup of good findings from the amazon style sale at different price points?

Oooh, the H&M jumpsuit comes in black! I feel that might read a little more professional + can’t see the linen wrinkles as easily!

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
