Saw It On Social: DB Method

Apr 27, 2020

At home workout equipment is popular right now, so I thought what better time to discuss a few of the workouts that social media has convinced me to try over the years.  Starting with the DB Method.

While I was living in Montana, I was short on time to go to the gym.  So when I spotted the DB Method advertisement on Facebook, I decided to give it a try.  The machine is designed to make body-weight exercises like squats more effective by introducing resistance and correcting form.  It’s designed primarily for squats, but there are exercises for cardio, core and arms as well.

Small enough to fit in most apartments, the machine disassembles to store flat.  Though, the disassembling and reassembling takes a bit of effort to master.

The DB machine is also designed to reduce strain on your knees and joints.  It also made it easier to do squats without the low back pain that sometimes plagues me.

So does it work?

The first few times I used it, I didn’t experience the soreness that functions as proof of efficacy.  My form wasn’t quite right, and it took watching the accompanying videos a few times to correct it.  Once I had mastered the form, I found the workouts (which run six to 10-minutes) very effective.

Cosmopolitan has a lengthier review with before and after photos.  My results weren’t quite as impressive as hers, but they were noticeable.  I found the DB Method was an effective, quick workout that helped me trim a few inches from my hips.

Bottom Line: Like all workout equipment, it can’t work if you don’t use it.  At $229, it’s not an inexpensive thing.  But when you can’t go to the gym, if you’re willing to put in the time, it is a very effective at home workout.  I give this Saw It On Social ???????????????????? out of five emojis.

Like all Saw It On Social reviews, no money or gifts changed hands in exchange for this review.  I purchased the DB Method machine myself and used it for a few months before writing this review.  If you would like to read more unsponsored reviews of the products that fill your social media feeds, please visit the Saw It On Social archives.

Love the DB Method! It’s a quick workout that feels like you’re a kid playing seesaw.

Also love the series to review at home workout equipment since it seems we’re going to need it for a while.

On the store and put away factor – how many attempts did it take you to master that step? I.e. the fourth or fifth time you put away and took back out was it intuitive? I’ve been tempted … Except that under the bed storage is valuable city “real estate” in a row house.

I finally jumped on the LekFit bandwagon. I purchased a bare bones, nothing fancymini trampoline when the safe at home first started (I did previous trampoline exercise classes from another gym). I saw Busy Phillips rave about LekFit and have been trying the free week streaming classes and I think this is what will push me through! That, plus a few free weights and bands, and I’ve got a pretty regular keep me sane and active during this craziness routine!

I love the LEKFit trampoline workout! So much easier on my knees and ankles than dance cardio, and Lauren’s music is always great! I also got my trampoline on Amazon, but ordered the LEK tube band and shipping was extremely fast.

I just purchased this based on your review, the Cosmo review, and the rave reviews on their website (taken with a grain of salt). I broke my ankle pretty bad last year and the tail-end of my PT included squats and lunges — very difficult with soft tissue damage in my ankle! This hopefully will help in that regard, as well, since I’ve haven’t done one single squat or lunge since completing PT. I’m excited to try it out! I will say, with tax and shipping, it came out to $270. I’ve forgotten that sometimes you have to pay for shipping.

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
