Four Ways: The Spring Sweater

Apr 15, 2020

I adore today’s styled item.  This soft, pretty spring sweater is so lovely.  It’s perfect for casual work from home days and the happy days of brunch and patio cocktails that are to come.

Sweater. Aya Textured Top

I adore the sheer sleeves on this gorgeous white sweater.  It’s light, and fun, and pretty.  Dress it up, dress it down.

This sheer overlay sweater from Century21 also caught my eye.  This lilac sweater is really pretty.  For a plus-size option, try this Looking Lively sweater.

One. J.Crew Factory Linen Pants // MK Olive Burnished Sandal // Fabian Clutch Crossbody // Marlyn Schiff Drop Earrings

Linen pants never appealed to me because I hate wrinkles.  But then, I bought a pair for a trip to Cuba, and I realized how comfortable they are.  Perfect for this period of isolation.

These J.Crew Factory pants are a nice option if you like slim silhouettes.  I also like these Cabo Linen Wide Leg Pants and these plus-size Eloquii Linen Palazzo Pants.

For the hair, I think a half-up/half-down would be nice.  I would wear a very simple, natural makeup look.  I might add a sheer pink wash to my lips.

Two. H&M Pleated Skirt // Majorica Pearl Earrings // Urban Expressions Locket Clutch // TKEES Sloan Slides

The diaphonous sleeve on the sweater feels so light a pretty that I wanted to pair it with a flirty pleated skirt.  This H&M skirt is a wonderful choice; for something with a bit more style, this Club Monaco Burnout Skirt is lovely. Plus-size?  Try this Modcloth skirt.

These TKEES sandals are a wonderful option for an affordable summer shoe.  The brand has many simple, chic styles.  I also like these minimal gold sandals.

To complete the look, I added the pearl earrings and the pierced, floral clutch.  They’re pretty accents.

For the hair, I would probably wear it up in a braided updo.  I would add a bright pop of blush to the cheeks.  I have always liked Bobbi Brown’s blush in nectar.

Three. Madewell High Rise Boyjean // Sole Society Hammered Necklace // Dolce Vita Darla Sandal // Hat Attack Straw Bag

I don’t usually gravitate toward light-wash denim, but these Madewell jeans look perfectly relaxed.  I like the light distressing and the relaxed boyfriend shape.  These Pilcro jeans from Anthropologie come in a slightly darker wash, and they also come in plus-sizes.

With the relaxed jean and the ethereal top, I wanted to add a colored sandal.  I chose these coral slides.  I also like these braided espadrilles from Talbots that come in a few summer colors.  A long hammered pendant necklace and the straw bag finish off the look.

For the hair, I would wear it down, maybe in a loose wave.  For the makeup, I would wear a pink polish from the Deborah Lippmann polish set.

Four. J.Crew Factory Printed Skirt // Pelle Mood Keana Pump // Little Pegasus Earring // Sterling Forever Cross-Band Ring

The bright print on this skirt is phenomenal.  I love the mix of colors — periwinkle, blue, goldenrod, peach — and the bold shapes. The skirt runs in sizes 00 – 20.

To not compete with the skirt, I chose a simple pump.  But I wanted the earrings to pull in the pinky-peach color of the skirt.  If you prefer blue, try this periwinkle beaded necklace.  I also added this cross-band ring, which is a simple classic.  And this one from Nordstrom Rack is <$30.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
