The Edition: No. 150

To meet someone. And be met.
To be chosen. To choose.
To love. To be loved.
This is everything.
— Mark Groves

Solve. How to conquer your to-do list.

Starry. This BCBGeneration blouse is the perfect mix of work and whimsy.

Saved. Reclaim your weekends with a monthly ‘admin day.’

Styled. Under-$200 Outfit: Sweater Jacket + Dress + Pumps

Esteem. Translating the ‘love languages’ to show appreciation at work.

Worked Out. Core10’s long-sleeve and short-sleeve tops are awesome <$20.

Space. How to create boundaries with a toxic parent.

Dazzled. Shashi makes great jewelry. This liquid metal necklace caught my eye.

Soured. The insidious popularity of ‘Hot Mess Syndrome.’

Underpinned. These Aerie boyshorts are my favorite underwear to sleep in.

Split. Why ambitious women get divorced more often than ambitious men.

Cozy. The fleece pullover that you saw on every blogger is back in stock.

A simple question for the end of the day: What is the one thing you want to buy for your spring wardrobe?  Because even though it’s just 38-degrees where I live, sunshine and flowers are on their way.

I’m looking for a midi skirt- maybe floral? Something I can dress up/down.

  2. Alex says:

Spring green work dress with sleeves!

  3. Emily says:

Never thought I’d see the day that this blog would post an item from Abercrombie & Fitch.

  4. J says:

A tea dress with a fun pattern. Winter never really made it here, but I’m ready for flowers and spring!

  5. Jules says:

I like that Shashi necklace – but what is the motif of the actual necklace? Is it supposed to be a sun or a moon? I am fashion challenged but I’ve been looking for something like that.

  6. Cait says:

Work shoes that feel spring/summery but aren’t open-toed! I’ve been living in black shoes all winter and would love to mix it up in the warmer weather with something more interesting than a nude ballet flat.

    • A says:

I just ordered some cole haan loafers from Nordstrom (McKenna and the Caddie) to hopefully replace my 2010 or 2011-ish cognac and black loafers which are starting to get holes in them. The Caddie came in some brighter spring colors – the coral was too bright for me, but if I wore more blues the Indigo looked gorgeous online. I also have a pair of flax textured (birdseye maybe?) rothys that are my summer default but that I also mix in for shoulder season – neutral but not nude.

    • DG says:

Ditto! The only non-black shoes I own are nude stilettos. I would love a non-black shoe I can wear on more casual work days where I don’t need to wear formal heels and can be more fun.

  7. e says:

What a beautiful quote! So simple, but so “everything” at the same time.

  8. Jane says:

A pair of cobalt trousers. I saw a fabulous pair at Boden, and I am feeling bold colors for spring!

  9. Lauren says:

    More date night clothes!

  10. Kmcm says:

I need some short sleeved blouses. Not cap sleeved and not overly puffy. Just basic summer blouses for work.

  11. Ral says:

Wide legged pants in a lighter material (cotton, linen, blended to prevent wrinkles?) and maybe also a smaller cross body bag with a top handle in a light or pastel color.

  12. SC says:

A navy shirtdress that I will wear with bare legs. Hurry up, spring!!

  13. Jssatx says:

Winter in central Texas essentially IS spring weather wise but I’m ready for more color and liking the cropped pants I’m seeing— though I struggle to find the right shoes for the wider leg versions im drawn to. I just ordered my first pair of Rothys in black after debating between those and the lighter Birdseye for spring…

I’m also throwing in a comment on the hot mess article. I don’t see myself in others or in literary or social archetypes of women often… but I am a hot mess! I appreciated this article’s acknowledgement of some of our more positive qualities. It may not be pretty- but I will get the job done.

  14. ~M says:

That Hot Mess Syndrome article is SO good. I don’t feel like I know any Liz Lemons, but I couldn’t watch the last few seasons of 30 rock because the idea that this utterly deranged person was capable of being a show runner at a major network drove me crazy. I nearly stopped watching Mindy Project for the same reason.

  15. Rachel says:

Question since you recommend the Core 10 cotton tees – anyone have experience with the similar-looking Core 10 “fitted run tech” tees? I like less cotton in my workout tees and these look good (and so inexpensive). Anyone have thoughts?

  16. Caitlin says:

I’m in the market for a sleek, almond toed pair of loafers for work. I love the look of the pointed toe ones, but my impossibly wide square feet would never allow it. No-sock season is coming, and my pair of classic Sam Edelman ballet flats feel a little juvenile.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
