Ask the Edit: Bachelorette Attire

Feb 18, 2020

A fun bachelorette getaway requires a couple of fun outfits.  This bride is headed to the desert and needs some affordable ideas.  Let’s get started.

Hi Belle!

I have a question for your Ask the Edit feature! I am having my Bachelorette Party in Scottsdale at the end of March and I would love a few ideas for what to wear!

Specifically, a fab swim suit and something fun for a night out, open to either dress/jumpsuit or separates. I am 33 and my stiletto and body-con dress days are over. Budget is $100ish for each piece.

Thank you!! MR

I love Scottsdale.  One of my best friends from college lives in that area, and I always love going to visit.  I highly recommend The Mission for dinner.  As for your question, let’s start with the dress.

This eyelet dress from Francesca’s is a cute option for a warmer climate.  I would pair it with these sliced shell earrings in a pretty aqua color.

Other dresses in the pretty category include this Express lace dress (very similar to Self-Portrait) and this sleeveless popover dress from TJMaxx.  Plus-size? Try this ASOS Curve mini-dress.

For something more structured, this Lavish Alice dress caught my eye.

Looking for a jumpsuit?  I found this one from Monique Lhuillier and this black smocked romper from She + Sky.

If you’d like a dress that’s more on the sultry side, this cross-neck midi dress has a snug fit.  And if you want something really unique, this ASOS blazer dress has wonderful textured details.

I love a bright swimsuit and this lava and hibiscus suit from Summersalt is just the ticket.  I also like this bright red suit from LOFT.  And this deep green ASOS one shoulder suit is not to be missed.

Looking for a two-piece?  This striped Madewell suit is very cute.  This bright yellow suit from Modcloth also caught my eye.  Or if you want white this L-Space ruffle strap bikini top is really fun.

Plus-size?  This floral-print swimsuit with a ruffle detail is nice.  I also like this ASOS Curve one piece with an off-the-shoulder look.

These are great finds! I also had a lot of luck with online shop LuLu’s when it came to all the white dresses / jumpsuits I needed for my own wedding-related parties.

Not mandatory but I thought that might be worth considering re:bathing suit choices…depending how close in time your bachelorette party is to your wedding, your skin type, etc, you may want to try to find a neckline on the suit that coordinates with your gown. Alternatively, you could plan on getting a spray tan, but I know not everyone is a fan of those. Definitely not mandatory but something that you may want to consider depending on how you feel about potential tan lines.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
