To perceive Christmas through its wrappings becomes more difficult with every year. — E.B. White

Wrapped. This video has the belt hacks for wrapping presents.

Draped. This elegant black dress is a showstopper; perfect for NYE.

Raised. Building habits that build confidence at work.

Dropped. Nordstrom and Shopbop are both having killer sales. Love this <$40 cardigan.

Measured. It’s not you. Clothing sizes are broken.

Worked. A lovely black sheath dress for work. Just swap the belt.

Distanced. How to set healthy boundaries with your family.

Organized. These packing cubes are life-changing.

Skinned. Which beauty products you should and should not layer.

Sparkled. This WAYF top looks cool with jeans for New Year’s Eve.  Also, this shimmery beige one (so festive).

It has been a good year, and a difficult year.  The highs were very high, and the lows have been very low.  But here we are, at the end of our 11th year together.

Thank you for continuing to read, and chat, and shop with me.  Thank you for lifting up your fellow readers, and for building a wonderful community.  Enjoy your holiday, revel in the spirit of the season, not just the things we buy for each other.  And I’ll see you back here on Thursday.  Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.

    Hi Abraham,

Congratulations on another excellent year with CHS. I enjoy your work here so much. I’d love it if you could do a rundown of ethically made professional fashion brands made in the USA. Ideally including brands that are on the affordable end of things. I came to MM Lafleur through you and love it.

I have realized I am no longer willing to buy clothes made in China, and of course this limits my choices tremendously. But I can’t fathom wearing something made by prison laborers or workers in Uighur re-education camps. It’s not for me, and I appreciate your help in broadening my choices.

    Happy Holidays!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

Three Outfits I’ll Wear All Spring

When I started this blog, influencers still re-wore clothes. There were no haul videos filled with the latest from Shein before it winds up in a beach in Ghana poisoning the planet. There were no sponsored campaigns delivering fresh wardrobes each month. The content machine doesn’t like reruns.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
