Four Ways: An Ivory Sweater

Dec 18, 2019

Ivory sweaters are the best for winter wear.  Whether it’s a chunky fisherman sweater or a sleek turtleneck, they always look fresh.  Here are some ideas on styling one for work or weekend.

This ruffle-neck ivory sweater from J.Crew is pretty and sporty all at the same time.  You can dress it up for an elegant look or down for something more preppy.  If ivory isn’t your thing, it also comes in several other colors.  Sizes run up to 3x. And with everything at J.Crew 50% off right now (code: GONUTS), it’s a good time to buy.

One // Kendra Scott Chain Link Bracelet // J.Mclaughlin Jacquard Skirt // Brooks Brothers Pumps // Baublebar Pearl Drops

All ivory would be perfect for church or a family holiday dinner.  It’s sophisticated.  It’s pretty.  And it feels festive without being a costume.

It’s so difficult to find an ivory pencil that I ended up with a striped jacquard one.  But if you need something simpler, try this a-line crepe skirt from J.Crew or this Madewell midi-length skirt.  Plus-size?  Try this one.

Two // Banana Republic Snow Leopard Pants // Oasis Pointed Slingback Heels // Nine West Chain Link Drops

If you’re planning to grab brunch with your loved ones on Christmas morning, why not jazz things up with a leopard-print pant?   The print is in a basic neutral palette, so it isn’t overwhelming.  And if you keep the rest of the pieces simple, it looks intentionally bold as opposed to 1980s mob movie.

I really like these slingbacks for a nice evening heel.  Give your basic black pumps a break, and step into this chic slingback for under-$75.  These earrings are also a fun choice, but if you want something simpler, these Gorjana studs are a great choice.

Three // J.Crew Parke Tweed Jacket // Rothy’s Navy Points // AG Farrah Denim // Kate Spade Raise the Bar Hoops //

Is your Mom the one who always wants to grab a quick picture of everyone?  Yeah, mine too.  Avoid the Christmas uniform with this British-preppy outfit.  Not feeling tweed?  A nice camel blazer will work also.

I chose these Kate Spade huggie hoops because I love the chiseled metal look.  But you could go for a simple teardrop hoop or a basic closed hoop.  Not feeling those choices?  Try these sale-priced gold circle studs from Saks.

Four // Ann Taylor Tropical Wool Pencil // Kate Spade Mini-Pearl Studs // Topshop Candy Bag // Amazon Sunglasses

A simple outfit for work, or for a nice dinner with family.  The mix of ivory and black is always a classic.  Just add a pair of pointed toe high heels, and you’re all set.

How adorable is the Topshop bag in the collage?  Simple, structured, a good small, but not too small size.  And under-$50.  It comes with a chain strap, or you can carry it by the handle.

Also, these sunglasses are under-$20 at Amazon, and I’ve never had a single complaint from someone who purchased them.  I bought them because a couple of other bloggers raved about them, and now I need another pair in tortoise.

This is one of my favorite four ways posts – I would wear all of these stylings.

  2. Kate says:

I love this four ways, but the sweater and the blazer are not available in my size. Darn. However, great ideas and I’m heading on a search. Great Post.

All of these looks are so chic! Awesome post. Also, another satisfied #amazonsunglasses owner. They’re the best.

  4. Emily says:

I LOVE these looks! Question on the sweater/blazer combo – my blazers tend to be more form fitting so they don’t look so boxy. Do you size up for putting sweaters underneath?

    • Belle says:

This is one of those things where you’ll need to try it, and depending on the thickness of the sweater, see if you can lift your arms comfortably.

Always love your 4-way posts – great ideas! That green tweed blazer is perfect, esp for the holidays!

Awesome post! I love love love how you keep using the same pieces in these, while adding in a little something special and different each time, it keeps it so real for people who are trying to wear what’s already in their closet and not buy something new every week. Thank you for all your hard work this year!

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
