Dress Week: A Suit for Work

Dec 4, 2019

Business suits comprised of a dress and jacket have never been my favorite.  But this one, with a modern cut and a sleek look, is something different.  So let’s have a look.

I looked at this Tahari Sheath Dress Suit for a long time trying to discern what I like about it.  But there’s just something different and unique about it.  And while a friend remarked on its “Star Trek meets Chairman Mao vibe,” (and I can’t deny that I see it too), I’m really taken by this look.

The other great thing is that the sheath dress underneath is a lovely basic.  It’s a scoop-neck sheath with a wide strap and a clean fit.  You could wear it with anything.

Love a skirt suit, but maybe not this one?  I dig the boardroom vibes of this Anne Klein suit with a collarless jacket.  Plus-size?  This Kasper suit appears to be a simple, well-tailored basic.

If I didn’t have Christmas gifts to budget for, that suit would be mine. Very Claire Underwood, I think.

For the sewists among us, I have https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v9266 on my cutting table that this post is going to push me into actually working on.

I’ve held off because it looks just a little too close to an inauguration outfit previously, does anyone else see it or is it just me?

  3. Katie says:

This reminds me of Melania Trump’s inauguration outfit, just a different shade of blue.

  4. Diana says:

I have been eyeing this suit since earlier this year. I love it! I am waiting to get a new job and then I am going to buy it.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
