The Edition: No. 131

Oct 8, 2019

At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. — Albert Schweitzer

Balanced. Why you should stop trying to be happy at work.

Wrapped. This <$40 fringed scarf is perfect for traveling.

Relieved. Ideas for stress relief that aren’t drinking, smoking, or jogging.

Cinched. H&M has this lovely leather skirt and this green pleated skirt for fall.

Shifted. How to build the confidence you need for a career change.

Relaxed. My Sunday lounging outfit: Leggings, a sweatshirt, and a puffer vest.

Inclusive. All the fashion brands that have introduced plus-sizes in 2019.

Dressed. Normal Kamali’s side draped dresses in long sleeve and sleeveless are sleek, comfortable, and perfectly easy.

Finished. There are 3-months left in this decade, let’s make them count.

Warmed. A surprisingly chic packable puffer for winter travel.

Fed. Breastfeeding discrimination is real.  Anne Wojcicki wants to start doing something about it.

Lit. Use this flameless lighter for all of your fall scented candle needs.

Planned. How writing your “future bio” can help you achieve your goals.

This weekend, I hosted a reader Q&A session on Instagram.  My favorite question was: What’s the best thing you’ve discovered in the last month?  And I need to amend my answer.

This Active Wear Detergent from Rockin’ Green is the best thing I’ve discovered this month.  After a few trips to the gym, I noticed that my leggings weren’t as fresh as they used to be.  This all-natural, enzyme-powered detergent removed any lingering odor without damaging my workout gear.  And if you have children in sports, I’m told this is a lifesaver.

So what’s your favorite thing that you’ve discovered recently?  Leave your best finds in the comments.

That Rockin’ Green detergent is great for dog blankets, too!!

  2. Sarah says:

That detergent looks amazing but the name – I keep giggling at that YouTube video – “doing literally nothing in my active wear.”

just fyi, technically the decade is not over until the end of Dec., 2020. Jan, 2021 starts the new decade. Remember Kramer & Newman’s dueling Millenium parties from Seinfeld?!

  4. Karissa says:

Thanks for linking the breastfeeding discrimination article by Forbes- it was very interesting. I work in a male-dominated field and I know that my guilt around taking pumping breaks caused me to stop pumping earlier than I would have liked. Unfortunately my milk supply was low and didn’t let down easily so it took me a long time to pump- around 45min to an hour. Even though I brought work into the pumping room with me, I felt bad about how much time I was off the trading desk. No one made any comments, but it was personal guilt I put on myself. If I’m blessed to have another pregnancy, I’ll work hard to give up some of the working mom guilt.

Another month has come and gone, and between a busy work schedule, illness and the search for new childcare, I almost forgot to ask for questions for the AMA.  Luckily, I remembered late last night.  So here we go. I always think it’s funny when people send rude or overly personal questions when I put […]

I love stocking stuffers.  They are the best part of Christmas.  There’s just nothing quite like an affordable gift that’s funny or useful or chic (or maybe all three).  So here is Part One of my stocking stuffer gift guides, where nothing costs more than $30.

Add to Cart: Five Recent Amazon Purchases

Since my daughter was born, Amazon has claimed so much of my money that I had to buy stock just to get some of it back.  Between the formula, onesies, fruit pouches, diapers, wipes, and ever evolving list of baby development gear, I could not survive without Prime.   My husband no longer notices the […]
