“You wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down.” — Toni Morrison

Lifted. How to rise above office politics.

Protected. The beach hat for my wedding weekend.

Expectations. Athleisure, barre, and kale: The tyranny of the ideal woman.

Dressed. Iris & Ink has so many great pieces, but this Rica dress in berry is just sublime.

Unfocused. Are distractions eating your life?  Tips for reclaiming your mental real estate.  (Another great find from Hitha’s #5smartreads.)

Stuck. These “stickers” are keeping my cystic acne at bay.

Styled. The best sunglasses for your face shape. These are mine.

Shined. Need sundresses?  This pretty floral and bold red caught my eye. And I love this Rachel Roy for plus-size ladies.

Coupled. Five ways to keep your relationship happy and healthy.

Duplicated. Can these Aerie thongs replace my beloved Hanky Panky ones?

Honesty. No one wants to see your bare feet on a plane ever, you barbarian.

I’m just going to leave this right here.  Because this kind of amazingness needs to be shared with the world.

Aerie are the only thongs I will ever wear. I have a million pairs! They never cut into your sides!!

Thanks for posting that Jia Tolentino piece. Her writing captures so well the conflicts of the desire (and joy!) of chasing the feminine ideal and realizing that investing in that ideal is inherently taking part in the patriarchal system. I’m excited to read her book.

These sound amazing. I can visualize adding either a chocolate or caramel drizzle.

As someone who is about to get on a 10hr flight to Tokyo on Saturday, that article about flights and feet has me retching.

I’m the type of person who takes my shoes off the second I walk in the house, but there is no reason to have your bare feet up in a plane. I’m willing to accept the occasional person who takes their shoes off at their seat and keeps their feet down, maybe right on top of their shoes, especially on a long flight. I think it’s gross (unless you’ve got socks), but I’ll accept it. However, keep those puppies down. I sit across from a coworker who takes off her shoes at her desk and occasionally walks around her office in bare feet, and it. grosses. me. OUT.

I recently switched from HankyPanky to Everlane’s thongs. I like that they are made of cotton (probably TMI, but odor and moisture control are better for me with cotton). Everlane’s are surprisingly more comfortable than the HP. No VPL, no squeezing, and no rolling down. I sized up after reading the reviews. I’m in the process of replacing all my old panties with these!

That Guardian article, oh my god. I read it surreptitiously at work and now I can’t stop pondering the female condition in late-stage capitalism… all of the “urgent” emails are going to have to wait for a second. Excellent, excellent choice.
