Five Tops/Five Days: A Cheap Thrill

May 10, 2019

I thought I would end the week with a cheap thrill.  A pretty top for work or weekend that costs under-$25.  Because who doesn’t love a deal?

This top from 14th & Union has a great mauve our and some fun flutter sleeves.  They’d look great without a topper, but this blouse would also pair well with a cardigan or blazer.

It also comes in black and two floral prints.  There are also a limited number of petite sizes.  If you want the black, I would hurry as it is selling out quickly.  Looking for a similar top in plus-size?  This Modcloth blouse has similar details in a deep teal color.

Abra – Can you do a new round-up of your favorite t-shirts? That Ann Taylor one is sold out, and I think Everlane’s quality has gone downhill over the past year. I’m looking for something V-neck, with a longer length, and high-quality fabric. Why is this like the holy grail? I’m willing to pay Eileen Fisher prices (and I love their fabrics) but everything is so boxy and makes me look pregnant. Any ideas!? Thanks so much.

YES. I have a white Everlane t-shirt, and I don’t even think I’ve worn it that often, but it is way too thin, shorter than I’d like, and the arm pits have gotten super dingy (this could be related to my choice of deodorant, but still, nothing has worked to whiten them back). It’s time to get a new basic white tee, but i haven’t found the holy grail of decent fabric + flattering fit.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
