Five Tops/ Five Days: A Pretty, Professional Blouse

May 8, 2019

Here comes summer.  And I need work attire.

I was hoping to take the summer off.  Get in shape.  Work on my yard.  Travel.  Get Thirtyish off of the ground.  But no, I’m a junkie.  And when a female candidate for Mayor of Spokane asked me to work for her campaign, I was powerless to say no.  Is there a rehab for this?

How cute is this CeCe Pleat Sleeve Blouse ($79)? It’s the perfect top to tuck into pencil skirt or cute trouser.  The collar makes it a little more professional than it would be as a crewneck.

For a classic look, go with a simple black pencil.  I would also wear it with a green skirt.  If it’s chilly where you are (or just in your office), add a black crewneck cardigan.

Plus-size?  CeCe has a similar top with a longer sleeve in your size range.  It’s pretty, and very feminine.

I got this top in a recent trunk club trunk with high hopes…it felt very ‘twee’ once I had it on and it went back.

I have this blouse and love it.

Word of warning to those who want this top: the arm and neck holes are much slimmer and smaller than most tops. I ended up returning this top because it wasn’t as structured as it looked in the photo. Just read the reviews on nordstrom! But yes it’s very cute.

Ugh. I know you meant this as a joke but joking about being a junkie in need of rehab is in such poor taste. It’s an insult to actual addicts in need of help. There is a mental health crisis and an opiod crisis happening in the country and people making jokes lik this adds to the stigma.

I also hate when food bloggers refer to stuff as “crack chicken” or “crack dip”. I’ll get off my soap box now.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
