Product Review: Bumble & Bumble Mending

Apr 25, 2019

I use a lot of heat on my hair — blow dryer, hot rollers, curling irons.  As a result, it gets very dry, and very damaged.  I’ve tried every deep conditioner, treatment and masque on the market (or at least it feels that way).  But I’ve never found an very day shampoo and conditioner that moisturize and protect.  Until now.

Bumble & Bumble’s Mending Shampoo and Conditioner is amazing.

The shampoo is ultra-mild, so it’s perfect for color-treated, chemically straightened, or permed hair.  There is no stripping with this shampoo.  So if you have processed, dry, or damaged hair, give this shampoo a try for maintaining smoothness and shine.

The shampoo is great, but the conditioner is the real star.  The Mending conditioner treats damaged hair as well as any hair masque I’ve tried, but without the weighed down, lifeless after effects.  I also don’t think my hair has every felt softer than it doesn’t when I use this conditioner.

A quick note, however, the conditioner is thick.  So if you struggle with body acne, you may wind up with a shoulder breakout as a result.  I started pinning my hair up after cleansing and conditioning, and that helped.  But I do have a bit more acne as a result.  (If you also have body acne, this scrubber and spray are lifesavers.)

This shampoo and conditioner might be a bit heavy for some, but on my fine, damaged hair it is a lifesaver.  I still do a scalp scrub every other week to help with build up, so that keeps the benefits fresh.

Re: the body acne – I wash and condition my hair first and always leave my conditioner in for the duration of my shower because I find that its more effective that way. After I put in my conditioner I pull my hair into a low bun. Once I wash out my conditioner I pull my hair into a low bun again. Then I cleanse my face, back and chest with my face wash as my last step. This seems to help me as does wearing a robe as I do my hair post shower.

I love Bumble & Bumble, I use the Creme de Coco shampoo and conditioner. It’s so gentle and really keeps my wavy unmanageable hair soft and smooth, even if it’s still wild and manic sometimes. I also love their dry shampoo for those in-between hair washing days.

Thank you so much. Curious about your thoughts on the scalp scrub. Apologies if you’ve reviewed and I missed it.

Seems impressive. Will try using it on my hair as well as I too use a lot of heat.

I’m also curious about the scalp scrub! My apologies also if I missed an initial review. I get… scalp zits sometimes? It’s an irritating and confusing situation, so maybe a scalp detox is just what I need?
